Hey.  Back from I-Con (which was hugely successful...but more on that later).  Just a quick update and a couple of cute pics from Char's B-day last week.  She got SO much cool swag from my trip to I-Con too (Gravitation music cds, anime plushies, Evangelion pvc figures, FMA tee shirt, etc...), the kid is one spoiled fledgling teenager.  Anyway, this is the really cool cake I got her...

(That's an awful picture of it...but you get the idea).  There was not ONE scrap of it left when I got home...not one.  Which is too bad because it was the yummiest cake ever.  Here she is, goofing off, sniffing the cake in question.

She also got DVDs of "Howls Moving Castle" and "Millenium Actress" and a $100 gift certificate for Hollister (I freaking hate that store and their fakey-overpriced-surfer-girls-gone-wild clothing line...but part of having a teen is respecting their sense of fashion and personal taste, and she covets those damn trendy clothes :::shrug:::).

Busy busy...I just uploaded my pics from I-Con (I have a couple dozen really fun cosplay pics to share...everyone looked SO cute!), but that entry will have to wait as I MUST get to the bank and deposit mo' money.

I kicked ass, by the way.  ;-)

Hiya! Hey, we can trade con stories (I know you were at SakuraCon this weekend, right?).

There was SO much anime/manga stuff and cosplay at I-con...it was kind of funny because there were a lot of disgruntled-looking 40 and 50-somethings slouching around wearing "Frodo lives" tee shirts (or stuff of that nature...you get the idea) bemoaning the "death" of fantasy/sci-fi. I have to laugh at those people. I picked up the entire collection of "The Twelve Kingdoms" while I was there and I have to say that fantasy is alive and doing quite well...it's just in a different form these days. Anime is a breath of fresh air, in my opinion.

Yeah, it's these people who don't understand that anime IS fantasy/scifi, just animated. In another language. Oh well.

Eh, Sakuracon was all right. Not as good a haul as I had hoped, especially given the attendance, (I honestly did just as well at a con with 1/8 of the attendance.......kinda sad.) But I came home with cash, so it wasn't all bad. :D

Though I am disappointed that the seasons pieces bombed. The hubby chalks it up to them being too artsy (yet my most popular piece this weekend was one of my more artsy pieces........*shrug* who knows.)

There's no accounting for taste. I LOVE the "seasons". Give it time...that piece may just need a slightly different crowd.

I totally sold out of my wolf prints (which I personally think are my weakest painting in the group)...you just never know what people will like.

You would have SO kicked ass at I-Con...it was easily 60 to 70 percent anime content, even though it touts itself as the Northeast's biggest sci-fi/fantasy con. Over 6000 people attended. Yeah, a lot of them were students but they spent money just the same, and anything anime was a HUGE hit.

That cake rocks! And it was huge too.

Oh man, I've never liked Hollister. My cousin used to make me go in there with her. I just stood near the music display and kept playing this one song over and over, just to see if I could make the girl behind the counter flip out. The clothing there is all the same. I don't see the lure of those trendy shirts with surf boards on them. *shrug*

Ooooh! Pics!!

Congrat's on the ass-kickage, btw. ;)

Hollister is my least favorite store...ever. It's full of cheaply made overpriced flimsy tee shirts and poser sales-kids looking to intimidate with their naked hip bones and vacuous sneers. Oh yeah. I hates it.

The ass-kickage was mighty. All may bow down before me and despair. ;-)

O.O Wow, what I wouldn't give to be in your family for the one day a year when you come back from I-Con. Lucky kid! *drools over goodies* I'm glad you had fun!

That cake is gorgeous.

:-) I LOVE buying anime crap! I'm a total sucker for plushies and sound tracks and pvc figurines and gashapon and anime-related swag of all kinds...and I had the honor (or misfortune...depends on how you look at it)of being sandwiched between TWO huge anime crap retailers in the dealer's room. You can imagine the carnage. It was glorious.
