Muahahaha! I use my will to bend reality and thwart thousands of generations of natural insticts...and force the lion to lay down with the lamb!

...or maybe that's the husky lying down with the kitty. :-) I WIN.
One more picture of Kumo in his birdhouse perch (Charlotte took this one)...

I swear we're starting to wind down here...only TWO Kumo pics today.
In other news (there IS other news, darlings. Time stands still for no cat), I got a lovely, unsolicited & utterly unexpected gift from
smillaraaqtoday! A beautiful tiger-eye and turquoise glass necklace that looks AMAZING on me (my favorite combination of brown & aqua, y'know). It's so sweet of her! I saw it in her journal & commented on how lovely it is, but at that time she'd already put it in the mail for me. What a kind friend. :-) Unexpected gifts are the best.
I'm making something cool for her, too. Pictures next week, to be sure.
Woo! Only two more days & I'll be in Las Vegas visiting my brother John, who I haven't seen in over a year.
moko_moko will be there too! I can hardly wait. :-) The desert is always so beautiful and alien to me, and I always have fun hanging with John (he's an incredibly funny guy). Of course, the flying part freaks me out a little. I'm out of practice because the last time I flew was in November. *shrug* Once I get up there & have a chance to look out the window, I actually love it. The god's-eye view is always fascinating and wonderful to me. I just wish I could be knocked-out for the takeoff & landing parts! Ah well. What's a little mortal terror anyway? That's like the price I pay to go somewhere neat.
*smooch* Love you all.

Kumo's got the run of the house now and it seems to be going just fine. He's even softened up Dinah (heh...that's funny because she's like a fur-covered pudding, really) and while not exactly buddies yet, they can sit side by side peacefully. It's because Kumo is such a relentlessly optimistic kitty. He just keeps offering his love no matter how often he gets rebuked, and I know eventually he'll wear Dinah down. One day soon I'll walk into the living room to find them grooming eachother, I know it.
He's awfully brave too. Even when he gets pounced at by Kiba (who will probably always need monitoring around the cats...he is fine until the kitties dart & then he assumes it's a game and the chase begins) he stands his ground. He's so little, and it's really funny when he sticks out his chest and glares at the dog with stern authority.
The vet says he really IS one and a half to two years old. He's just tiny and undernourished. I LOVE that he'll always have such a cute little kittenish face. :-) We're all goofy for 'de cat here.

And I'm so glad you like the jewelry set -- I win at sneakiness! *giggles* I take it the photo links I sent you were all clear enough to be usable?
One thing I forgot to mention in that last note...would you be interested in some sushi molds? I've got a bunch that I picked up at Ginza a few years ago but hardly ever use as mostly I do inarizushi, or occasional simple norimaki. Or spam musubi...can't help it, it's a Hawai'i thing. There's one to do about a half-dozen little nigiri, a big one for shaping and slicing triangular rolls, and three large singles for a square, circle, and large oblong. The packaging's long gone (and was totally English-free anyway) but really, they're pretty self-explanatory.

I LOVE the jewelry! That necklace even looks great with the one Goldie sent me...I can wear them together.
Hmm...I have a sushi mold & I just don't really like them. I think I do better with the mat, rolling my own. Thanks anyway. :-)

And what is it with the teeny tiny cats and giant dog beds? I used to have a HUGE round bed for Jake, and nine times out of ten the only occupant would be the tiny kitty curled up in the middle, like a little furry cherry on top of a giant fleece sundae! She didn't even have to snarl -- Jake would just look at her and sort of sigh and wander off to sleep on my bed instead.
Now don't be surprised if Kumo figures out the next step -- sometimes it can be FUN to make the dog chase you! :)

Yeah, Kumo is a lesson in confidence & perseverence. He's actually doing a lot better than I'd hoped. For a kitty that has been caged for as long as he has, he's figured out the household dynamics pretty quickly.

And that is *exactly* what happened with Nishka and Becket. He wanted so badly to be with her that he kept following her and following her and finally she just gave in. It was about two weeks from the growling and hissing to the first time I caught her holding him down and washing his ears.
He is a beautiful boy.

These two are actually starting to get along quite nicely. Tonight they ate side by side, and I think Dinah was even starting to play with him a little (Kumo LOVES to play and poor Dinah never has, so I think he'll be good for her).
Thank you. :-) He IS awfully cute. I just can't imagine why he was in the shelter so long.

Oh man...I'm just going to HAVE to control myself & stop inflicting kitty posts on my poor f-list. We keep grabbing the camera every time Kumo does something cute. He stole Kiba's dog bed tonight and I managed to STOP myself...but it was hard.

Eee! I'm going to be taking lots of pictures this weekend. :-) Can't WAIT to see my brother's new place. The local newspaper in Vegas actually wrote an article about it...it's THAT huge.
