There's nothing like a bad experience to teach you caution! Just don't be afraid to ask for revisions - the worst they can do is say "no." That's what negotiating is all about.

I hadn't realized that the gallery scene worked like that. You should probably keep your ear tuned to it, because it would be such a great opportunity, but I think you've found a good niche.

This is definitely what you should do - there are millions of us in cubicles right now. I love knowing that you've made a successful decision to live by your art. I doubt I'll ever try to do the same, but it's wonderful to know first hand that it can be done.
