Thankful for LJ friends...

[profile] golden_meliades has turned some leather leaves I made for her into a BEAUTIFUL set of hairsticks.  Seriously...you must go see the ginkgo leaf sticks, they are just gorgeous.   I really need to make more leaves for her; she does the most amazing stuff with them.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] angeljapan sent me a box of cheerful spring gifts from the other side of the planet.  The bubble bath petals are a big hit here, hon.  Char has used all of the Sakura already!  Thank you so much.  ^_^

I love my LJ friends.

In other news; something isn't quite right.  I don't know how to explain it; I just hurt all over & I'm very weary.  I can't seem to concentrate on anything, I'm irritable, and most of all I hurt.  I just finished a long set of weights at the gym, which usually makes me feel like a million bucks, & instead I feel like throwing up.  Yesterday was beautiful and yet I could not bring myself to ride my bike...not even on a short trail.  That is NOT like me.

I hope it passes soon, whatever it is.  I feel like crap.

Got to run.  I'm getting my hair done today (it is LONG overdue).  It needs to be darker and shorter I think...I look awful & frumpy lately, with my gray roots showing & my hair going brassy in the sun.  Don't you hate it when you feel ugly?   Being run-down & sick is one thing, but bad hair...ugh!  There's a limit to how much I can stand.

Start with known problems. Did you have your iron levels checked recently?

I was WONDERING why the sticks got so many hits in the first half day! (15 is a lot for me ever since November when Etsy seemed to die a bit.) This is why. :)

I can easily make sticks with just about anything of that size that you send me. You could probably make just about anything. Butterflies, coins, hearts, dragonflies...they're just so showy.

I had my bloodwork done about 6 weeks ago. Iron was low still but much better than last year (& within normal range, just a tad low for normal) sooooo... *shrug*

Those sticks are awesome. You want to do a tie in with my ginkgo mask? The one I have on Etsy already? I can make you my first "Etspirations" listing & it'll take almost no effort on our part (just some editing of existing listings)...let me know!

[identity profile] golden-meliades.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, since I lowered all of my prices by at least 10% (often more) due to the economy, I can't really afford to offer any deals. But I don't at all mind adding a photo of your mask to my listing, along with a link in the description. Is that all you were thinking? Just to associate one artist's work with another to form 'sets' and things like that?

Yep...I'll be offering free shipping on my end to anyone who buys something from your site, but you don't have to do a thing (except add a pic of my matching ginkgo mask & a mention of our collaboration). I'll drop you an e-mail once I get it all organized.

Flu , maybe? It doesn't always have to include a cough or anything obvious. Or maybe you need a down-day. :-)

[identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps. I don't feel really stuffy in the head or feverish, but I definitely have something going on because my whole body hurts. Woe.

I lifted anyway at the gym & rode my bike today but I was weak at my weights and slow on my bike, so hmm.

[identity profile] golden-meliades.livejournal.com 2009-04-16 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes...kijjohnson *points up* could easily be right. I remember getting very frowny, hearing you say you were doing weights two days in a row (A NO NO!) and that you were biking several trails a day even though it's the start of the season and you're not really back in the groove yet. (Because no one can be, that quickly.)

You could easily have been overdoing it, and it would make you feel awful. Take the weekend off! Don't do ANYTHING that could be called exercise. You might reeeeeaaaaaally need it. I know it's hard to be reasonable, but please trust me when I say it works a thousand times better than just being gung-ho.

I took yesterday off, basically. Today I went to the gym but I felt weak & wobbly, and later I did a short trail and I was SO slow. There was only a 10 MPH wind (which is nothing for early spring) but when I headed into it, it slowed me down to 2nd gear. Which is ridiculous since I'm normally in 4th or 5th. It took me an hour to do a 10 mile trail. That's just...not normal for me.

I like to just "do it anyway" but this is a bit weird.

Very true about the hair. Very, very true.

Your body might be telling you to ease up on the workouts a tad. Or you might be coming down with something. Or it could be your iron levels. Who knows?

I'd say rest for a few days. Give your body a chance to heal itself (or go into fullblown ague, though hopefully not!) and if you still don't feel better, you might want to check with your doc. *hugs*

The hair is much better now. :-)

The rest of me, not so much. :-/ I have no idea what is going on...I just feel weak and slow, like I'm moving underwater or something.

[identity profile] fantasyforever.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Aawww... Feel better :-( Have you had your blood pressure checked? Low blood pressure will make you slow and wobbly. And have you ever had mono? Mono makes you feel like a limp, over cooked noodle. @____@

And the sticks are gorgeous! I wish my hair was thick enough to hold something like that. Sticks usually fall out of my hair XD;;

I think it's either a virus or I have really bad allergies...it could just be allergies. I never had a problem with those before but that's what seems to be going on 'cause Benedryl helps.

I braid my hair before I twist it & put the sticks in, & they don't shift a bit.

Take care of yourself! Still battling my low iron but don't feel the way you do. Could be the flu or you've really overdone it. If you don't feel better after a good long rest (days, not hours), back to the doctor you go. I basically shut myself off from everyone today and feel better for doing it. Going out to pick up fresh strawberries tomorrow - it's that time in Arkansas. I can make myself sick on them they're that good. I'll hurry up and freeze them for my smoothies.

Hope your weekend will be uneventful and restful. Your body needs it. Take care.

I think I have allergies! I never really had "hay fever" but I've noticed each year, I get more & more symptoms. Another lovely aspect about getting older, I guess. *sigh*

Can't let that keep me inside though...at least not for long.
