Ok, so...not allergies.

Umm.   Not allergies.  Really very sick.  Obviously viral.  I actually felt better on Saturday except for a scratchy throat, so I went for a 25 mile bike ride.  By Sunday, I was flat on my back with this...bug.

And now I'm so sick I could hardly sleep.  Taking Nyquil in the hope that it'll make me sleep ( & yeah, breathing through my nose would be great too thanks).

*sigh*

*snurfle*

Eeh, feel better, dear. Sounds like you got handed a bad one!

[identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you... *sniffle*
Actually I'm glad it's not allergies 'cause that would mess with my whole season. *looking on the bright side*

Ever try using a Neti pot? I find that they help a lot.

Hee I tried once & nearly drowned myself! I'm just not brave enough to figure out the technique. My Dad used one & he swore by it.

Feel Better Soon!

I make shiny icon, if you'd like to snag it. *G* Might look familiar.

[identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Drugs & sleep, in that order.

Hey cool! It looks so...shiny! ;-)

Bright lights in Studio, plus she's holding a gold/black Japanese folding fan just under her chin. I'm working up several photos from this session with her wearing Kitsune.

LOL BZZZZT!

But yeah soup...mmmm. I needs soup today. I wish I had the fixings to make my own, but there's no way I'm going to the store so I'll just raid the cupboard for Campbells in a minute.

[identity profile] golden-meliades.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Just adding onions and garlic and ginger and maybe a bit of Tobasco to a canned soup can really make it taste homemade...

Combining different soups is good, too.

Awwww. Sorry to hear that you are sick. Get lots of fluids, lots of sleep. Steam and sudafed (though sudafed will make it harder to sleep, so you might want to only take it during the day) can help you breathe better.

I hope you feel better soon.

[identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I have Dayquil & Nyquil so I'm just doing drugs & sleeping as much as I can (I'm just taking Nyquil all day today I think 'cause I'd rather be asleep).

At least it's a good day to be sick...very wet & rainy outside. I hate being sick when it's nice.

And oh good...my Mom just came by to see if I needed anything so I sent her off with a list, so soon I'll have fixin's to make fresh chicken soup yay!

[identity profile] golden-meliades.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
What you described before...feeling like you were pedalling through water or etc...was EXACTLY how I felt all of last summer...it's standard fare before and during an attack. So that was all I could think of; 'uh oh, it sounds like you're having/going to have an attack'. LOL but unless we have reason to believe you have MS, that didn't sound reasonable. It probably sounds weird for me to say 'oh good, I'm glad it's just a virus', but from my point of view, a virus/bug is something with a very limited lifespan that won't ruin your entire season/year/etc unless something goes wrong.

So rather than it being worsening allergies or some syndrome or other condition that would take longer to figure out how to deal with, I'm glad it's a virus. Please rest lots and eat ice cream and read nice stuff or watch movies and leave your family to fend for themselves. (It's good for them!) Ignore all responsibility for a few days and just get better. :)

[identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
You want to know something funny (not "funny ha ha" but weird)? I was REALLY worried about it being MS. There is a LOT of MS here in Buffalo for some reason (doctors think it might be environmental, caused by a hundred years of dirty industrial dumping in this region), so who knows?

I know you've spoken about your symptoms & that you never catch colds. I haven't been properly "sick" with a cold or anything in years...every time one starts I just shake it off in a day or less. Also the tired & cranky part...I was actually worried. :-/

So yeah, I'm glad it's just a cold. I feel miserable but in a few days I'll be fine again, & it explains why I was so weak last week. I've probably been fighting it for a week already.

It's rainy & yukky out, which is good for a cold actually because I keep blowing my nose. Plus Mom just went to the grocery store to buy fresh fixings for chicken soup, so soon I'll have that. I'm just going to eat & then more drugs & hopefully I'll sleep through the worst of this.

Well it's EXTREMELY unlikely that a person with MS could go until they are 43 without experiencing anything significant enough to get them diagnosed...or at least MISdiagnosed. People who are your age who get diagnosed with MS for the first time have generally been in and out of DR offices for many years, probably getting told that they have Chronic Fatigue or Fibromyalgia or Trigeminal Whatsit or mercury poisoning or...well it goes on. A stroke. Poor circulation. Eye problems, bladder problems, sleep disorders, cognitive malfunction (speech, memory), nerve problems, uncontrollable mood swings not associated with the menstrual cycle or any apparent root for depression...etc.

You'd hate having MS. I'm peculiarly suited to it...not that I LIKE it but it bothers me less than anyone I've heard of, overall (mentally/emotionally AND in situation, that is) but it'd be horrible for you, likely...you're busy and you have a family who depends on you for a huge amount of things. Plus you have to function among people more often than I do...and you likely NEED to be able to use your car to get around...it's amazing how quickly the ability to drive safely starts to erode.

Long story short, my recommendation is for you NOT to get MS.

You picked a great time to get sick, as these things go...really, it's horrible out! FIERCE wind. The trees are CREAKING. And it's dark and blah...and it's just gonna be the same tomorrow and the next day is supposed to be sunnier but still bloody windy.

I hope you have a nice relaxing virus. Really :) Sometimes getting sick is actually a blessing in disguise...maybe this will be one of those times. If you can POSSIBLY have any fun with it, please do.

Oh no! Lots of fluids, chicken soup and REST. No more 25 mile bike rides for a while, young lady!

[identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
But it was such a nice bike ride! I'm glad I went. :-) I have to take pictures next time 'cause it was a glorious, beautiful new trail.

I'm just doing drugs & sleeping, today. In that order.

[identity profile] fantasyforever.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Poor thing! :< Get lots of rest, and I hope you feel better! *hugs*

I think the worst part about being sick is when you can't breathe out of your nose.

[identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm totally just taking it easy today. Nyquil & sleep. & chicken soup. & more sleep.

I love your icon BTW...Chiyo-chan!

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

[identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you dear. I'm totally not going to make anything today either. :-/ Too sick & besides, no one needs a virus mask.

[identity profile] tallymark.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you feel better soon...sleeping through these things is best. :(

On a side note, laptops are awesome for when you're sick because you don't have to get out of bed! :)

[identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I do hate being sick. :-( But yay for laptops in bed 'cause that is pretty cool.

Oh Andrea,

Hope you feel better soon!! Your friend's hairsticks with your leaves look so beautiful. Too bad my hair is too fine for hairsticks...

Lots of oranges juice and warm blankets your way.

Carol

Hey Carol! Oh boy, do I hate being sick. I'm not very good at it. I'm all loopy from the drugs too...
