Working...

The weather has been lovely this week, and I find I'm having a hard time juggling my obligation to do housework with my desire to be outside in this beautiful weather.  Also, there's all the masks that need to be made.  Thunderstorms tomorrow will be a blessing as it will remove the temptation to take off on my bike for the day.

Meanwhile, I made a new one of these:

Another Persian mask in green.  I have big plans to design a new mask, too.  One shaped like this mask:

...but with the Persian designs all over it.  Black outline, gold mosque patterns, brown and I think burgundy on the first one I make.  It's going to be pretty cool; a "Persian Raven".

Now all I need to do is set aside time to make it!   I'm also busy re-designing the kitsune mask.  I messed with the pattern 'til I came up with a version that's about 20% bigger, but looks almost exactly like the smaller one.  Perfect!  I'm just going to phase out the small one entirely.  Tiny kitsune work in Japan because they are tiny people...not so much on western people.  So, it only makes sense that my westernized kitsune fits us & not them.

The exception would be My Favorite Ninja Fisherman, Nagano-san.  He has a huge head!  See?
That pic makes me LOL and also cringe a little.  OMG what a goofy fangirl I was being that day...
Speaking of Sasuke, I'm a little worried.  So far according to Nagano there is no date for the September Sasuke yet.  Their ratings had dropped off and there's some concern that the contract might not have been renewed?  Still plenty of time, but usually the date is set by now soooo...  All good things come to an end, I suppose.   It'd suck if the Spring '09 Sasuke was their last though, 'cause the All Stars didn't do so good.  I'd like to see them go out on a high note.

Char has a game today, after school.  Because it was a game day, the girls all dressed up in dresses and heels for school today, perhaps to prove that rugby girls can be girly girls too.  Char looked so pretty in a dress my brother bought her years ago in Vegas...a light flowy bohemian print sundress that's all the  fashion right now, in my favorite colors too (sand, ochre, brown and turquoise).  The dress fits her even better now than it did when she was 12, go figure!  It's all the exercise and running...she looks like a million bucks.  I have so many necklaces that fit that color scheme; I let her borrow one and it was just perfect.

Anyway, I better eat lunch and mail my packages so I can be ready for the game.  Must cheer from the sidelines like a proper rugby mom!  Hope you are all having a lovely day.  ^_^

I killed my legs. They ached (badly!) all day Monday and Tuesday, even overnight...I had to take Tylenol and Advil constantly because it was a sharp pain rather than a dull one. Then I was SO tired this morning that I knew I'd never ever get any errands done if I tried to do anything before...so since it's quite windy here today (beautiful, but breezy, and going to get much breezier) I just napped for a bit and then went out and did my stuff. I'm going to make some mixed hamburger/TVP patties (I like TVP. I really do...especially mixed half and half with 'real' hamburger...it lightens it up so the beef doesn't hurt my guts.) and freeze them. I had a very yummy thing for breakfast that I did NOT expect to be yummy.

Make a piece of toast, spread it with light cream cheese (I prefer light) and top the cream cheese with banana slices. YUM. (You can also add a bit of sweetner to the cream cheese to make it more 'desserty'.) If you make with the stuff I make it with it comes out with a very healthy nutritional profile...but it would be tasty no matter what variety of each of the ingredients you ended up using.

I had bean nachos for lunch. They were good, too. :)

Have fun! (PS: I'm having a hard time making myself believe I really should just bring mostly casual stuff, lol. I wear dresses/skirts almost every day if I'm actually in public. I'm trying to balance 'super cute' with 'really functional and easy to pack'. ALL my clothes are washable so that's not a concern...but it's a challenge to force myself NOT to pack my black spike heel shoes or the chiffon halter or...etc.)

You're making me hungry! ^_^

Yeah, casual is probably best. I mean, you can bring pretty stuff if you like, if that's what you are comfortable in, but you might feel overdressed. It's pretty humid here in late June, too, so light cotton stuff is your best bet (but the nights can be cool & damp so, you know...a range). :-) At any rate, walking shoes are a must-have.

Well, I have casual stuff that's pretty...I'll have to see what I can do. But wearing casual clothes every day, ESPECIALLY in front of a person who is seeing/meeting me in person for the first time...it's as unthinkable to me as the idea of not wearing any make-up the first time I meet someone. After the first time it's okay, because even if I look awful they KNOW I can look pretty respectable, but if they see you without make-up the first time they just think you're ugly or bland or ... etc.

The bean nachos were very easy! For a small serving (about 200 cal) take 9 Tostitos Scoops (baked), stick three beans (kidney or other large ones, it's really all that will fit once you add the other stuff) in each scoop, divide 1/4 cup of salsa into the scoops over the beans, then top with 1/4 cup of cheese. (I used the low-fat cheddar...'Allegro', I believe.) Then bake until the cheese melts, five to ten minutes at 350 or...well, whatever it takes to melt the cheese and warm the nachos up.

Takes three minutes, is very yummy, very healthy, and very easy to customize. I was supposed to add scallions/green onions but I didn't have any. I could have added regular onion chopped finely but I was lazy. Next time I'd make sure to have the green onions and I'd play with seasonings a bit, but it was good with just those four ingredients.

They might still run Sasuke. Just not with it on TV perhaps?

I want to meet Charlotte! When I go back home, I'll definitely try my best to go visit you!

I don't know...it's purely a TV production (that masquerades as an athletic competition) and it costs a lot of money to produce. I suppose there will be enthusiasts who will have impromptu competitions (like the one Nagano-san sponsors at the Maguro Festival in Kagoshima...he'll keep doing that forever I bet) but the great big 2nd and 3rd stage sets are something only TBS and Monster9 could afford to build.

Char wants to meet you too! We would totally love to have you here for a visit. ^_^
