Well, I did manage to go skiing today & it was brief but fun. More on that later though 'cause I promised you all pictures of my new walls.
To understand the joy over the new room, you must first experience the horror of the old room.
So, we sealed it all with a special sealer/primer, & then last week a guy came along & put up a new light fixture. & THEN, finally, our new wallpaper went up. So now we haveTHIS!

We still have furniture/storage issues but here's the whole room.

My art looks much better on these walls. Remember when I showed y'all my house art? & there was this cute little fairy watercolor I'd done, but all you could say was "that wallpaper is terrible!". Well, now it's just my art, baby. ;-)

The color's off in that picture, but this pic of my new oak switchplate shows the color exactly as it is. You can really see the texture too. Grass cloth paper is actually woven grass, & this stuff is more like a fine burlap. There are imperfections & the panels can be seen to be separate pieces of fabric, but that's exactly how grass cloth is supposed to look & I LOVE it.

Here is my new light! We SO lucked out on this...it was way on sale. The whole fixture store was having a special week-long anniversary sale...everything 20 to 70% off. A 250.00 light for about 80.00...that's incredible. I picked it out myself.

Here it is turned off, so you can see the beautiful frosty swirly glass flutes. We bought these wonderful "natural light" mini flourescent coil bulbs...energy efficient & when that light is on it's like daylight in there. I prefer bright rooms.

I loved the brushed silver & the art deco swirly design of the light, so when I saw this curtain rod at Target last night I HAD to buy it.

And, for the curious, my ancient, overloaded china closet.

You know...it really is beautiful wood. Maybe, when we get those shaker benches with storage space in them, I can unload all the crap from this piece & I might like it better. Hmm...
Anyway that's all we can afford to do for that room right now. Slowly though, this house is looking less like some other person's house & more like my own. :-) Which makes me happy.

Here is Greg, painting the ceiling (so I don't even have a good pic of the awful blotchy ceiling because we'd already started fixing things). Still, you can see the HORRIBLE crooked wallpaper & the ugly light that looks like something you'd see hanging in a Ruby Tuesday's restaurant. Blech.

More ugly. It wasn't bad enough that the one upper wallpaper was hideous...they added two other even MORE hideous papers & then, just to kick you when you're already down, they made switchplates to match. Oh...god.

Still more Ugly. Actually I'm proud of this. The old thermostat that was already COMPLETELY useless & no longer wired into the house was still there...just sitting there being ugly like a big useless knob of sin. So, I removed it & patched the gaping hole it left behind. Just some screen & spackle. I didn't even leave a bump! *pleased*
