I got my Friend's Day package from
golden_meliades in the mail yesterday!! She is such an incredibly thoughtful person. Highlights include a wonderful NEW set of her handmade hairsticks (in my favorite colors, no less...she knows what I like), the most wonderful handmade soap (it smells just like a freshly cut lawn...I love it!!) and a Japanese cookbook! The cookbook is simply amazing...full of simple recipes, many of which are good for vegetarians like Charlotte. I'm pretty sure I can substitute firm tofu for most of the chicken recipes, too. She even sent a little gift for Charlotte.
Thanks so much, Goldie! You totally rock & I'm so glad to know you. ^_^
She received my package yesterday too, so all is well and all is well and all manner of things wi' be well.
In other news; here have a mask!

That's my new bobcat mask! Pretty, eh? I'm quite happy with it.

Notice anything different about the eyes? That's because only a small hole has been cut...a little circle about 3/4 of an inch in diameter, from the center of the cat's "pupil".

Oddly enough it doesn't affect your ability to see very much, it just cuts way down on your periforal vision. Japanese Noh masks and all my kitsune matsuri masks have this same kind of eye hole...it lets you make a mask that is much more realistic (it actually looks back at you from the wall), plus it hides more of your eye, so less of your "self" shows when wearing it. It allowed me to do a beautiful cat eye on this mask. I'm quite pleased with the effect overall. ^_^
My Etsy shop is now officially closed for the remainder of the week. I left a few pieces in there so it wouldn't be completely sad & empty. I'm not leaving until Thursday but I thought I ought to shut things up anyway, since I'm not mailing anything out after today. That bobcat up there (a special order) is the last thing I'm sending. Everything else is packed.

EVERYONE!! You must watch this if you can, & please hurry! Tokyo Broadcasting System keeps shutting these videos down (copyright issues) so I don't know how long this link will remain open. If it's working, when you click on it you will see the MOST AMAZING LITTLE JAPANESE GUY. The show is called "Sasuke (Ninja Warrior)" and is a reality show in Japan. It's a little like the infamous "Takeshi's Castle" TV show (the one that is re-dubbed & is known as "MXC...Most Extreme Challenge" on Spike TV..."Right you are, Kenny!"). Except THIS show is Serious Stuff. The obstacle courses they build for these guys are simply incredible. It's like something out of "Tomb Raider"; you can hardly believe a human being can DO any of this, & none of the contestants are professional athletes, they're just regular people.
This particular little dude is my favorite. He's one of the few to beat the course...all five stages. His name is Makoto Nagano & he's 36 years old, five foot three inches tall, & I think zero body fat. He's just a fisherman! He climbs like a monkey though. I could watch this over & over. I have to thank
angeljapanfor letting me know about this guy. I hate to say it but he really floats my boat. ^_^
