Oh holy monkey, it's COLD outside today. I went out to take pictures of two masks I finished last night...
...and I just about froze to death. My fingers actually stopped working. It's supposed to get warmer by the weekend, which can't come soon enough. I'm so sick of winter.
Anyway...not much is going on. Charlotte wants to take another People To People trip; this one is going to Machu Picchu. Can't say I blame her, as I have always wanted to see it myself, but I'm not sure how we can afford it. Those trips are so expensive.
In other news, the Snuggie blankets I ordered three weeks before Christmas finally got here. You know...Snuggie! The blanket with arms! There's a commercial for 'em on TV every 3 seconds, it seems.
It's much maligned (because the commercials are admittedly really stupid) but actually kind of a good idea. A blanket...with arms! You can read a book, or answer the phone, without uncovering your arms. It's not a bad idea but it is most certainly NOT something you should wear in public (like they show in the commercial...a whole family wearing Snuggies in the stand at some kind of sports event. They look like members of some weird brightly clad cult.) .
I got one for Greg and one for my Mom. Greg loves his but feels compelled to stand up and do a very disturbing "Snuggie Dance" that involves all kinds of arm flapping and Oompa-Loompa-ish antics when he puts it on. It makes me sorry I got the thing for him, when he does that. Also, just a note to the guys; Snuggies make it impossible to scratch yourself surreptitiously. Y'know...under the blanket. 'Cause you can't do that. 'Cause it has arms on the outside.
Mom loves hers 'cause she likes to knit, and now she can stay warm while she does. ^_^ She made me my own blanket. It doesn't have arms but it is very pretty (I picked out the yarn for it & of course I chose my favorite colors of brown, beige, and blue). It also doesn't compell me to do an Oompa-Loompa-ish dance of any kind, so that's a good thing.
