Oh wow.  It was lantern love all over again for me this year.  I took myself & Greg & Charlotte & her girlfriend to see the Chinese Lantern Festival up in Toronto & it was bigger & better than ever.

My favorite display this year...the full-size dragon boat.  Yes, on a lake!  With fountains & brightly-colored lotus lanterns in the water.  Stunning.

This is the second year that the Roger's Lantern Festival was held in Ontario Place.   It turns out the lantern sets are NEW each year.  They are designed & built on site by a master artisan & an army of craftsmen.  Made of bamboo, wire, & silk, most of these lantern sets are over 40 feet high.  There were almost twice as many lanterns this year, and they were of a much more traditional theme.

Anyway, the display is up until the first week of October.  When it's gone it's REALLY gone.  The sets are built from scratch each year & when they tear them down they REALLY tear them down.  Go if you can...they're worth seeing.  I'll drive up & meet anyone who wants company because I love this show & will happily visit it as often as I can.
