I'm sort of not feeling good. Just...not quite right. I think I might be getting sick, 'cause my right tonsil hurts when I swallow (seriously should have had those things taken out when I was a kid) & I'm dizzy. Reeeeeeally dizzy. It's almost like a nice little booze buzz, except it's not.
Also, I haven't been sleeping well.
Hmm.
In other news, I got a phone call today from Ginger, the buyer at Rumors. I've never actually met Ginger in person, but we talk on the phone frequently. She has a great N'awlins accent & in my head she looks like Kate Pierson of the B-52s. Anyway I thought I might be in hot water 'cause I'm like a week late with my order (which I mailed to them yesterday). But no, in fact she told me they always give delivery dates that are two weeks before they actually need the stuff, because they're used to dealing with artists (whatever the heck that means), & besides they are VERY happy with me so no worries.
The reason they are happy with me is because they are selling my most expensive masks hand over fist. This, to me, is crazy because I know what they are selling my masks for. My most expensive masks are those big dragons, like the Frost on my Etsy site & the Fire one I just sent them. Also, they had a Celestial dragon which they sold, which was the reason they called (they want another), which is in the same price range. They sold it for (get this) 770.00.
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that. It's very difficult for me to imagine that just one mask could be worth that. Let alone just one of my masks. It's just this thing I make...with my bare hands! I'm flattered & apalled & intimidated all at once.
Of course the reason they can get that kind of money has a lot to do with the location of the gallery. It's one thing to buy a mask from a housewife from Buffalo NY with clever hands, & quite another to buy a mask from an exclusive gallery in the heart of the French Quarter. But still...
Anyway, it's something to ponder dizzily at 3:20 in the morning.
