Well...I voted.  The machines here are scary & old & so are the people working for the election board this year, so I hope my vote gets counted.  They have to throw a switch on the machine,  depending if you're voting as a Dem or a Repub, & they kept locking up the machine so no one could vote.  Paper ballots everywhere...  :-/

Anyway!  I was up all night working on my newest mask; a "Sakura" mask.  It's SO DAMN CUTE.  Just a ukiyo-e looking cherry blossom branch & a few fluttering petals on a half-mask...very sweet & floral & classic.  I was looking everywhere for some kind of art to use as a template but in the end I just drew my own & I have to say it looks very very nice.  I'm going to have a terrible time discontinuing this design...it's THAT adorable.

Still painting 'em.  The carving took forever.  I really ought to sell them for something like 70.00 because the petals took forever to carve & tool...but I'll keep it to $55 to keep 'em affordable.  I can't decide whether to do a black background or a brown one.  Black makes the design pop & it looks like black laquered screen art, but brown looks very ukiyo-e.  I'm going to do it both ways I think.  I'll throw 'em up on here, so you can decide for yourselves.

I'll leave you with a funny story.  Last weekend, Charlotte had to write a report for school.  Something about some artist who does giant photo-realism paintings.  He's made a name for himself, painting these giant portraits of famous people.

So Char was listing all the famous people this guy has painted, & she asked us to proofread it for her.  No glaring spelling errors...until we saw this:

"He also painted a portrait of one of The Rolling Stones; McJagger..."

...McJagger.
