I had an awesome workout tonight. Simply awesome. Don't want to go on & on so I'll just say, it was great. I am up to 100 lbs on the ab cruncher Nautilus machine...100 lbs! With these sad old abdominal muscles that have been sliced & sewn up more times than I can count, I can now do crunches against 100 lbs of resistance. Just...wow.
Then I hit the trails again & did 26 miles in just over an hour and a half...that is fast. Faster than I've ever been. It helps that my bike shop dudes totally came through for me. We compared my old Trek to my fancy, new (but slow & clunky) Trek and they made some key adjustments. Raised the handlebars about an inch, raised the seat about two inches & moved it forward, & gave me new cool racing tires. The tires are very thin & at first I didn't trust them, but I have to say they make a world of difference. I can keep up with road bikes & racers now, & that's something I could never do in the past. I think my average speed is up at least 5 mph now...it's like a brand new bike. VERY pleased with that.
My iron pills must be working as well; I have twice as much energy these days as I used to. I can't say for sure that it's the iron. I have so many different things that I'm working on...it could be anything really. But I like to think it's the iron curing my anemia that's doing the trick. As my doc told me; "I just need more BLOOD in my blood." ;-)
Finally...I love my brother. He's totally coming through for me. In spite of the fact that he's busier than the Pope, when I asked him if he could come help me do the Chibi Pa convention in Florida this September (my sis can't 'cause she has a wedding to go to) he said "Sure!" cheerfully & with no hesitation. I was worried because it was beginning to look like I'd have to do it alone (& showing up alone at a convention with art to display & tables to set up & monitor is HARD work), but I knew I could count on John. He is my hero.
So! The Masse siblings will be in West Palm Beach this September! It'll be a party...that's for sure. ;-)
Speaking of John...he just got back from Europe. I don't think he'll mind if I share his pictures, because they are made of win. Look. He was on a two-week cruise that went to Barcelona and Lisbon and I don't know where else. Plenty of cool old places, apparently. A working cruise, because he was there on business, if you can believe it. What an adventure!
Back to work. I'm finishing something spectacular...but I can't share pictures of it yet. Not until it gets mailed to the intended recipient. Yes,
kls_eloise I'm talking to you...your eagle has finally landed!
