Roughly a week ago today, I was in Japan, preparing to go home. I never would have guessed that my last day in Japan would be my favorite part of the trip. It was all due to my friend Carol and her two beautiful children.

It’s a bittersweet thing, though, to have people you love living on the other side of the planet. I hope we’ll meet again, someday soon.
