See this stuff?

It grows all over my house.  I don't know exactly what it is but I suspect it's some kind of wild form of grapes.  The grapes are NOT yummy, by the way.  Not to me.

Anyway, right about now, when all the leaves have fallen off my house (and isn't THAT a fun clean up?  That's what I did yesterday, by the way) birds descend on our house in giant flocks.  Starlings on their way south, mostly.  Huge flocks of birds eat my house.  It's a scary sound; all their fluttering wings and scratching claws.  It sounds exactly like the birds in the Hitchcock movie. "The Birds", when they attack the house.  I feel like Tippi Hedren.  Good thing I don't have a chimney!

I hope they eat a lot.  If they don't (one year they mysteriously failed to show up at all) the grape-thingies turn into raisins and make a sticky raisiny mess all over my driveway.  And then the dog eats them.  And gets sick.  Really, I prefer to be terrorized by hungry birds.

I stayed up half the night carving my next steampunk mask...

...still haven't shaped it yet.  I think it's going to be pretty cool.  I took apart a watch, then found some pictures of cogs & gears on line, and I kind of made an amalgam of the whole thing.  Hopefully it will turn out neat, since it took forever to carve.   I made a pattern, just in case it's cool.

I want to try some more, but with just one eye all geared-out & the other side plain.  Sort of like a pirate's eye patch.  It might look like "The Borg" from Star Trek...I dunno.
