:::sigh::: Yeah I know. I haven't been around on account of all the crazy in my life. I wish it were ~fun~ crazy, but no, it's just the dumb train-wreck fly-in-the-ointment did-you-get-the number-of-that-bus kind of crazy. So it sucks. It's not even character building. It's just cosmic unfairness and I hate it.
Good news is; we finally finished the upstairs room. It looks awesome. My daughter loves it, when it's not freaking her out that she has the entire upper part of the house all to herself. The whole Asian theme came together very nicely, not in a cheesy way at all. I painted an old dresser to look sort of "Eastern" (black with gold bamboo patterns on the drawers, sort of "shabby-chic" meets pseudo Asian) and the mini-tansu we got specifically for that room is serving heroically as a very classy looking night stand. Would it be strange to put pics of it in here? Eh, probably but so what. I'm proud of all the work we did.
I got to do something wonderful on Friday. It was 60 degrees outside (in Buffalo! In January!!) so I tossed the bike into the trunk, drove to one of my favorite trails, and took off for an hour. Three things; I am woefully out of shape (I did fine but everything ached for hours afterward), I need to move somewhere that I can do that all year round, and in a strange way it only made me miss the biking season even more. All the while I was pedaling along thinking "yeah...I'll see you again in, oh, three months or more.". It was good to get out there though.
Good thing I went for a ride when I did, 'cause later that night the wind began to blow and by Saturday the temp had dropped over 40 degrees and we had snow. Today we're supposed to get some Lake snow. I can hardly wait.
Yes, that was sarcasm.
I watched the end of "Contact" this morning. I always find that story so touching. What a sweet, wonderful book that was. Carl Sagan is one of those people who I wish had more time, more life. I think that story was his attempt to reconcile his spiritual, philosophical nature with his analytical, scientific self. He was so intelligent and at the same time so human. I miss him.
And then, there's this. :::shrug::: At least it was for charity...though Shatner's such a strange bird I'd almost suspect him of doing it for the publicity.
