I had to think long and hard about this one. Once I got going, it was kind of hard to stop at only five! Oh well...
I love this couple...even though they certainly aren't a romantic pair (many of my favorite OTPs aren't). Sesshoumaru is haughty, proud of his strong demon blood, and disdainful of his father's choice in women (re: Inuyasha's human mom)...so fate saddles him with a frail human child to protect and care for. When he reaches for her and saves her life, he opens the door to his own redemption. She is his one chance at salvation from a long lonely life, devoid of love. It's a beautiful thing.
2. Inuyasha/Kikyo (Inuyasha)...Faithfulness.
Even though she's dead, even though she's just a vengeful shadow of her former self, the guy just can't leave her be. He keeps protecting her and worrying about her and trying to save her even though she was lost long ago. It's touching, really, how he never quite gives up on her. They must have been really great together, once.
3. Ed Elric/ Alfonse Elric (Full Metal Alchemist)...Devotion.
The way these brothers dedicate themselves to saving eachother...it just touches my heart. No matter what happens to them or how many people come into their lives, they remain devoted to putting things right, each for the sake of the other. So sweet.
4. Chihiro(Sen)/Haku (Spirited Away)...Salvation.
Haku takes Chihiro under his wing and helps her to understand his world. Chihiro ultimately saves Haku from his life of imprisonment and helps him remember who he is. Each sees the potential the other has, and knows the true nature that lies beneath the veneer. Chihiro seems spoiled and helpless, Haku seems detached and haughty, yet both have such strength beneath their weaknesses. Each helps the other to grow and discover who they really are. They really "get" each other. :-)
5. Robin/Amon (Witch Hunter Robin)...Frustrating!
Oh these two! They frustrate the CRAP out of me. Amon obviously sees something special in Robin, and he takes such extravagant measures to protect her. Robin obviously has the hots for him and needs his protection and approval... But then what??? A whole lot of emotional baggage and dithering, that's what. Yet, when they work together and depend on each other they look SO pretty...*sigh*. She is ~exactly~ what he needs, you know? This is one anime series that really needed a sequel or two.
So, that's my list and I'm sticking with it (though it killed me to leave out Spike and FayFay...Waaah!).
I'm supposed to tag people now. I know some of you may have done this meme (or something very like it) already, so only if you feel like it...
