Six random facts about myself:

1.  I can't type.  Not like a normal human anyway.  I scan and peck with one finger, but I do it freaky superfast like Data on Star Trek and it must be funny to watch.

2.  I like weird words.  I try to work them into normal conversations all the time because I enjoy making people uncomfortable with my vocabulary.   I used "ideation", "placate", and "focalize" on one of my daughter's teachers the other day...just to mess with her.  It was fun.  :-)

3.   I like the way coffee smells better than the way it tastes.  Fresh ground coffee, by the way, smells INCREDIBLE to me.  If I was a dog I'd roll in it.

4.  I don't sleep well.  I live like a bat.

5.  I don't fly well.  Planes terrify me.  No matter how circumspect I am capable of being when I think of flying in general, when applied to myself I am always quite certain that the damn thing is going to fall out of the sky.  Or blow up.  Or burst into flames.  It's irrational but I just can't help feeling that way...that's why they call 'em phobias.

6.  More observations about smells...because I'm funny about certain scents.  There are things that most people find kind of stinky and yet I like the smell of them.  A short list:  Sharpie markers, low tide, my dog's fur, that sharp ozone smell when it first begins to rain on a hot day, carnivals, burnt milk, the way my fingers smell after I've cleaned the sink with Comet, and mud.  Smells I hate:  fake vanilla (it stings),  Fabreeze, the way my fingers smell three hours after I've cut up an onion (no matter how much I wash!), and cloves.

I hope those were sufficiently weird...I think your random facts should be entertaining, revealing, and embarrassing if at all possible.  I won't tag anyone, as I think we've all done this meme before.  BUT if  anyone feels like commenting and telling me random stuff about themselves I think that'd be just fine, 'cause it's a great way to get to know everyone just a little bit better.  :-)

In other news:  I was up all night with Charlotte, watching anime.

We watched the Full Metal Alchemist movie, "Conqueror Of Shambala".  We both LOVED the anime series and watched the whole thing, all fifty-one spisodes, so seeing this movie was a must.  I won't spoil it for anyone, but I will say that there are a LOT of things in the movie that you just will not understand the significance of if you're unfamiliar with the series.  It was full of fanservice and odd references and quite a few "Awww!" moments.  We enjoyed it immensely, and my only complaint  was (ack!  crap!  this IS spoilery, so highlight and read only if you don't care or already have watched this movie...) I I was terribly upset that poor Wrath got killed...terribly upset.  He turned out to be SO cool, and his battle with Gluttony was the best sequence in the entire movie.  It was over too quick, imo, and in the end his gesture seemed ... underappreciated by Ed and Al.  *shrug*    He was a cool character, and I'm bummed that he's gone now.

*ahem*   Yeah, so aside from that we loved the movie.  Fangirly squeals where the order of the evening.

Now, about "Hellsing"...what a fun, twisted, creepy little anime!  It was recommended to me by [profile] rumdiculous, and I have to say she was totally right about  Alucard.  He's a hoot to watch!  I'm only 6 episodes in but I'm loving it so far, and the relationship between Alucard and Integra is absolutely compelling...I can't wait to see how it unfolds.  It's pretty bloody though...it'll certainly never be on Adult Swim (unless it gets cut to bits) so I'm glad I have this DVD series as part of my extensive anime library.

And it bears mentioning that I love the dubs, because my alltime favorite english anime voice actor, Crispin Freeman, does the voice of Alucard.  It doesn't matter what kind of character he voices, they all end up sounding like sex gods to me because his voice is just mmmm.   And OMG what a pleasant surprise to find out that Freeman is also incredibly good looking!  Usually it's kind of a let down, to see these actors in person, but this guy...just wow.  Go look!

Aaaand that's all I have.   :-)
