Yeah, galleries are VERY much about who you know. (I actually talked to a guy at a gallery once who told me the only way to get into that gallery was to have lived in the area and died in the area. Morbid much?) But it sounds like it went well enough at least. So you didn't get into that one, but I wouldn't be surprised if down the road some gallery picks you up. And from there, it should be smooth sailing. :D *crossing fingers anyway*
