Woo!  The wind is flipping HOWLING tonight!  Sounds like an express train roaring past my house.  The eaves are creaking and the lights are flickering, but I'm toasty and cozy with a cheap shiraz at hand and a funny fun meme to occupy my mind, courtesy of [personal profile] moonphased.  Here goes...

A meme! A meme!!

Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list ten things you love that begin with that letter. Afterward, post this in your journal and give out some letters of your own.

Kuro bequeathed "A" to me soo...

1. Animals...always loved them.  My idea of a perfect night of TV viewing as a child was Mutual Of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, followed by The Undersea World Of Jaques Cousteau.  Animal Planet has my number, by the way (except for that STOOPID animal bloopers video show which hurts me deeply).

2. Artist...which is what I am.  Defines me, confines me, inspires and ignites.   I just can't stop makin' stuff.

3. Amaterasu!  Oh Kuro, you KNEW this was coming.  :-)  I just love the depiction of Amaterasu in the PS2 game "Okami"...love love love.  She's happy, brave and confident, a little sad, a little sweet, and a WOLF.  And she saves the world with ART.  What's not to love?

4.  Amos, as in Tori.  She sings the songs I'd sing if I sang songs.

5.  Anime.  Always loved it, always will.  Anime is so crisp and vibrant and alive...it beats western animation by a mile, and with so much drama and heart!  Plus those huge eyes just MELT me every time.  Don't even get me started on the pretty hair.

6.  Akira...goes with number 5.   One of my very favorite anime movies.  I wasn't as nuts about the manga, but the movie is a masterwork and Kaneda really floated my boat for a long time in the early 90's.  Pure anime gold.

7.  Akira Kurosawa...speaking of Akira!  this Japanese filmmaker dominates my movie collection.  From Seven Samurai to Dreams...he just tells a story like no other.  Dreams is one of my very favorite movies, BTW.  The dream about the dolls of the peach orchard coming to life and thanking the little boy for loving the forgotten orchard...that arc makes me cry like a little girl every time I see it.

8.  Alucard...from the Hellsing anime.  Twisted and mighty and yet somehow good...how does that happen?  That Crispin Freeman does his voice in the dubs only increases my attraction.

9.  Archeology...my major in college.  Yes, really!  I loved every minute of it.  Getting married (the first time) killed my career but I would have been perfectly happy working as an archeologist for the EPA or somethin' like that.  I still study the ground for shards and pottery everywhere I go.

10.  Animal Crossing...the gamecube version of this video game ATE MY SOUL for almost a year.  I STILL have memory cards that I refuse to erase because they represent hours and hours of fishing, buying, building, TEDIOUS letter-writing...just generally HUGE social experiments on how hard a person will work for virtual wealth, praise, and popularity.  By the way I have ALL the Jingle Furniture and OMG it is so ugly but my score totally rocked once I filled my house up with that crap.  'Nuff said.

Bwahaha!   There's my list!   :-)

 A few notes:

-I have new art stuff to show off, but this cold front is screaming "You do NOT want to even TRY to come out here and photograph something right now...I'll blow your masks away and freeze your flipping fingers off!".   So maybe later.

-The Sabres SO ROCK.  The game against the Rangers tonight...wooo!

-My husband is a fine fine person.   He brought me movies, chocolate (Dove ice cream...oh my), and cheap wine tonight.  On such a cold windy night, is there anything finer?   Well yeah, but I can't go there 'cause I think my daughter reads my journal now...

-Battlestar Galactica...the SciFi channel series.  OMG that series is pure gold.  I love every minute of every episode.  The character development and the writing are so mature and compelling.  If you haven't seen it yet, go rent the first few seasons...TOTALLY worth sitting down and watching.

- My brother and his girlfriend are going to see the Barenaked Ladies in Vegas tonight.  But I'm so pleased with my Sabres and my chocolate and my cheap wine that I don't even feel a BIT jealous!   Life is funny, sometimes.

And that's about it for now.   See how much I love you all?    I spent a chunk of my Saturday night yapping here in LJ, just because I care.  :-)
