Whew. SO tired. So very very tired. And yet so busy...just today I got three new orders, a BUNCH of half-finished projects that have to be FINISHED in three weeks, and I'm still sending out info packets to galleries and gift shops all over the country.
Suddenly it's pouring outside & the rain sounds lovely through my wide-open window. Mom always rushes to close windows when it rains...as if the sills are made of sugar. I like to leave them open though. Rain on the dry street makes one of my favorite smells and I wouldn't miss it for anything. How many times in a lifetime are there sudden summer downpours at midnight? It's a special summer treat and should be cherished.
I talked to four buyers/owners today...four. Oregon, California, Florida, and North Carolina. They all seemed very excited & receptive and I have to get those mailings done...but the printer took a crap. Well poop. Still, it's just an ink issue so I'll rectify that tomorrow & send things out on Saturday instead.
Also, a fellow from the Hamptons who saw my work at that art/craft fair in Lockport a couple of weeks ago (he was one of the few that bought more than a butterfly pin) pulled some major strings for me. I got an e-mail from the show director of Art In The Park, a HUGE fancy Art (with a big "A") show in the Southhamptons...she said "send a check. Don't worry about pictures or applications, you're in". This show, by the way, was full over a year ago.
Unfortunately there's just no way I can possibly go...it's at the end of the month, Pennsic is a week later & already I don't have much time even for getting prepared for Pennsic let alone a big art show. Still, it's very cool to know I have people out there pulling for me. I'll send her a nice letter declining & I'll apply for next year's show, when I can be better prepared for it.
It's funny how I was SO depressed about my future just a couple of weeks ago & yet right now everything is bright sunshine & open doors. I guess life never throws more at you than you can handle. Or maybe it's just me being proactive & reaping the benefits of industry. *shrug* Either way it feels almost karmic.
Last night I worked & worked until 5 am. As the room started getting lighter as the sun came up I realized I was so tired that I was seeing double...& yet as I stumbled past the aquarium I couldn't help noticing how nasty the water was. Which is why I found myself cleaning the fish tank instead of sleeping like I should have been. The fish are much happier. I think I might be getting sick though! Too little sleep.
