I had to wait twenty four hours and calm down.  A LOT.  Before I could write about this.

So.  If everyone who reads my LJ has been paying attention, you all know I've been very excited about this Sasuke competition that's held twice a year in Japan.   After a terrible winter involving three separate life-altering health issues & a series of operations, I was feeling weak & sorry for myself until I saw this little guy kick the CRAP out of  the most insane obstacle course you could imagine.  It did something to me.  I started riding my stationary bike immediately & switched to my trails as soon as possible.  It hurt like hell but I'm getting better & doing an average of 20 miles a day, now.  I also started lifting weights.

So yeah, I'm all kinds of inspired these days simply because  [livejournal.com profile] angeljapanwas IMing me one morning about a month ago, telling me about this competition.  I get my inspirations from the weirdest things...I know.    ^_^

Anyway, since I'm such an otaku now, I found out that the same producer is responsible for the Sasuke event & the Viking event (a similar show with a lot of the same competitors on it & who was the only guy to get to the final stage of that event?  Yeah, my favorite ninja fisherman) .  This producer  has also developed a stage show on the Vegas strip & in Tokyo that has been wildly popular.  It's called "Matsuri; Muscle Musical" & it's like a combination of Stomp & one of these Japanese endurance events.  Once again a lot of the same guys are in this show (not my fisherman 'cause he's fishing!).   It was in Vegas at the Sahara until November.  It rotated to Tokyo but it'll come back here eventually & I was thinking "Hey...my brother lives in Vegas!"

So I called my brother & we're talking & I say "John!  I have to see this show called "Matsuri"..." & He stops me & says "Oh yeah...I worked on the stage design for that one."

*much arm waving & incoherent squeaking ensues*

Seems the Japanese producers wanted a more "Cirque" feel to the show & guess who they hired to work that angle?  MY BROTHER.

I'm not kidding.

John's partnered with another guy (they've both worked with Franco Dragone, Mr. Cirque Du Soleil himself) who is still in Tokyo.  They're working on the Tokyo production as well, updating the look & the music & well...it seems they LOVE John's work over there & he is supposed to go there sometime early next year for an extended business trip, to meet with the producers.

Did I BEG LIKE SOMEONE WITH NO DIGNITY to go with him?  You know I did.

The timing of the trip coincides with TWO things I really want to see;
*Hanami Matsuri; cherry blossom viewing season
*The Spring Sasuke competition

In case you need reminding, Sasuke is the event produced by the same people John is working with.  So kids...in about a year I could actually be in Japan, watching my very favorite little fisherman kick the crap out of the 2009 Sasuke event FOR REAL.

There are no words.

Does the universe work like this for everybody or is it just me?  'Cause I really want to know.

OMG I know!! I'm so excited & freaked about the whole thing. I had NO idea he worked on that production.

Ho-lee crap I have to lose more weight & learn to speak Japanese!!

Haha, okay...that is a tall order, in a year. Learn Japanese? First you'll have to learn the kanji and katakana and hiragana and whatever they all are...before you can ever start learning the words. Oh man, it sounds like a tall order. English to Japanese doesn't seem like a very natural transition. Isn't Japanese a somewhat tonal language? And the way they use the same words/syllables over and over with all different meanings...the idea is intimidating.

As for weight...why you gotta lose a ton more? You're an average size atm, aren't you? Are you going to do something that requires you to be thin?

Even if you don't do either of those things I'm sure you'd have a LOAD of fun going over there. :)

Eh...I may never be able to read the language, but I have several lessons that teach you how to speak it conversationally. Frankly I can prolly get by on what I know right now. I speak the language like a two year old kid. I know a lot of words & simple phrases & how to say please & thank you & ask simple questions...I just can't string complex sentences together & I want to FIX that.

Also, learning katakana wouldn't be a bad idea. I'd hate to get lost on the subway or something like that.

& yes I MUST lose more weight. I planned to anyway. I am average right now it's true, but that means I'm like a 14 & yeah...that's not my happy place yet. I want to be more like a 10 or 12. 30 less lbs and I'm there. I figure if I can do THIS summer what I did LAST summer, it's totally attainable.

Well 1 to 2 sizes is only 10 to 20 lbs so yeah, you can likely do it.

I'm an 8-10 (though in tops I usually have to take larger due to bOObs) currently tending more frequently to the 10. I'd LIKE to be a 6-8, which IS possible but my body thinks it is just about starving at that point and really resists it. Though if I were to go less, I'd look funny, with my giant bone structure and all. Girls with shoulders and ribs like mine are NOT meant to be 'skinny'...we look skeletal or just plain awkward.

Alas, I only want to lose about 15 lbs but apparently it isn't possible, as being on 1300 calories for 2 or 3 years now has barely kept me EVEN. Forget losing. -_- But I think at least a FEW lbs will come off this summer. I don't mind being a 'sturdy' girl, as there is no getting away from it, but I do prefer to be quite lean. Especially if it gets my muscles to show more.

I can say things like 'arigato' and 'sayanora'...you know, fan stuff. Gomen, ohayo, obayo, demo...really really basic stuff. A few pathetic phrases, but very little that could actually be strung into a reasonable *sentence*. What anyone who watches too much original anime could speak, in other words.
