Whee!   Today I...

*Got a postcard from

[profile] angeljapan (thank you hon!).

*Got a manicure and a pedicure (I have flowers on my fingers and my toes now and they're so cute I can hardly breathe!)

*Bought a manicure for Mom too (she loves being "girly" now for the first time in her life.  After, we went to Pannera's for salads).

*Got this awesome pendant in the mail!!  You might remember I mentioned how much I wanted it.  Well, Greg got it for me!

I ran right out to AC Moore's & bought all kinds of silver chain-making stuff & clasps, & I promptly made a few different styles & lengths to wear it on.  It's so tiny!  I can't believe how detailed it is.  Seriously, it's no bigger than a dime.

Of course, this led to much picture-taking.
I, umm...made the chain short so's you don't have to enjoy my cleavage quite so much.

It's hard to take a good picture of yourself!  Also, you can't see how awesome my shoulders look, yet.   And, my eyes look old today.  Ick.

That's as detailed as I could get...it's really little!  I plan to wear it all the time.  ^_^

It's Africa-hot outside.  Heat index is about 95 because there's about 1000% humidity out there.  It was like that last afternoon too but I STILL went for a 20 mile bike ride & did just fine.  I think I'll head out right now, in fact.

Having a super Saturday...hope you all are too!

Dave in Milwaukee sez:

That is, indeed, a very lovely pendant.

Make with the cleavage. :)

Oh, I'm so glad that you got it! That lampwork bead is exquisite, and I learned the hard way to buy beads like that when I see them because I will never find them and always regret not getting it (there was a fishbowl lampwork bead at Val Day something like 8 years ago that I'm still kicking myself for not getting--but I had already spent a ton of money and he had said he would be at Pennsic. He was--the bead was not. Sniff.).

Word of advice--if you used jump rings (a single circle of wire, pressed closed) to connect the clasp to the chain, you should seriously consider either welding them closed or using split rings instead. Jump rings can pull open fairly easily, and you don't want to lose your pendant.

I was so pleased that Greg noticed my blatant plea for this pendant! ^_^ I really wanted it.

It's amazingly tiny...she's one incredible glassworker. The detail is amazing; it's almost TOO small 'cause you have to look really close to see what it is. I'm crazy about it...it has all my fave color combinations.

I was thinking of getting a tiny jewelry-making welding iron. I just can't work with split rings...they're too hard to use. At any rate, even though the chain is silver I used steel jump rings 'cause they bend less easily.

I have a special tool for working split rings--it holds them open so that you can use them more easily. Then again, I also have a small soldering iron, though I haven't played with it yet. It's not jeweler's one, though, because the ones that melt silver are much, much more expensive than I can afford, so this one is rated for pewter (I think). Anyway, if all I'm doing is closing jumprings for clasps, that should be sufficient.

Steel jump rings would be a lot stronger. Silver is pretty soft. Not as soft sa gold, but soft.

The pendant is exquisite.

Hey John! Wow! ^__^ It's good to hear from you.

I hope you're taking plenty of pictures & that you enjoyed Barcelona (I loved that movie by the way). I'll give Mom your message. It sounds like you're on a great adventure! Keep having fun.

oooh..that was so sweet of him!..you and the pendant look so pretty!!!The short chain suits you- looks like a choker..
and I can imagine how pretty your fingers must be looking..I loved the flowers on your toes..:)(Ok..does the last sentence sound at all weird?)

Thank you! I love this necklace...so many of my necklaces are too delicate to wear in the rain (like my butterfly wings) so I'm loving how tough this one is. :-)

I need to take pictures of the flowers on my toes! They're even cuter than the last ones I had. I even convinced mom to get some on her fingers.

Hi hon...Thank you! ^_^

And OMG DA news story!! Wow! You know...I never really thought I had a chance to win anything but I certainly think YOU deserved to win that contest. Seriously, even objectively-speaking (assuming I can be objective about your art...heh)your piece was twice as amazing as any one of the winners. I wonder what criteria everything was judged on. :-/

YOU LOOK SO CUTE!

And it has been horribly hot here. Like the Savannah would be more comfortable than outside. I haaaaaate this type of weather. Especially if I have sunburn.

Eeee! Thank you! I felt cute 'cept for my eyes. The thinner I get, the older my eyes look. It's a cruel joke.

I know...you guys are getting baked in VA. The Capitol hit a record yesterday I think.

It's much better since those storms rolled through here. High 70s...my favorite temp. ^_^
