Rules: Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 16 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 16 people to be tagged. (how in the world did they com up with the number 16????)

1.  I really love chocolate way too much.

2.  My Dad was an award-winning graphic designer.  My brother is too.  My grandfather was a chef for the Vanderbilt family, & my great grandfather made carriages in Paris.  I come from a family of artisans.  ^_^

3.  I love dogs and can name any dog breed on sight in seconds (even super rare ones like Neopolitan Mastiffs or Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, and I know the difference between a Norfolk Terrier and a Norwich Terrier)

4.  I'm a nerd; I have a special Roger Tory Peterson bird guide book that I take everywhere with me.  When I spot a bird (it HAS to be in its natural habitat in the wild!  zoo birds don't count) I mark it in the book.

5.  I love playing Scrabble.  I beg my husband to play Scrabble with me all.  The.  Time.  My best score was 474

6.  I used to compete in barrel riding competitions.  I also rode a cutting horse when I was a teenager...it was fun.

7.  I hate movies that make me cry because I despise being emotionally manipulated.  "The Notebook" can go suck an egg.  :-(

8.  I love quirky Canadian music (like the Bare Naked Ladies and Moxy Fruvous)

9.  I love a LOT of music actually...especially jazz fusion & new age.  Pat Metheny is my alltime favorite followed by Andreas Vollenweider.   I HAVE to listen to music when I make my masks...it's part of my process.

10.  My sister knows how much I love all kinds of music; for a wedding present she sent me & Greg to see Tool.

11.  Did I mention I'm a nerd?  I met my husband online...in a Mystery Science Theater 3000 fan forum.  Yes really.  Speaking of MST3K I have over 200 episides on VHS.

12.  I didn't learn how to drive a car until I was 21.   That's how old I was when I got my license too.

13.  My favorite movie of all time, ever; "Bladerunner".  Seriously.  I can watch it over & over & over...

14.  I got my first job when I was 13 (in a pet shop) and haven't stopped working since.  Worked all through college at a sub shop and started my own business when I was 25, and have been self-employed ever since.  Even before I started working at the pet shop, I used to paint band logos on kids jeans at school for $5.  Van Halen, Rush, ACDC...stuff like that.  Always been a worker bee...

15.  My first concert; Frank Zappa.  I was 13.

16.  I am awfully short.  5 foot one inch!  Shorty McShortness.

Ok, those are sufficiently weird I guess.  I feel bad tagging people, especially since Suze and I share so many people on our f-lists.  I'll just say that if you WANT to do this meme, I would be pleased to read your 16 things and comment on them, kindly.  ^_^

Oh, I don't think you can love chocolate too much. ;)

I wish I could ride a horse. Closest I've ever come is the pony ride at the fair when I was a kid.

You're even shorter than I am! (5' 2" here) Most of my family are a bunch of shorties - my mom is 4' 11", my grandma was only 4' 10" (and shrank as she got older), one of my male cousins is only 5' 4". Weirdly, there's a few tall genes in the mix, as my brother is almost 6'.

You CAN love chocolate too much though. My thighs are living testament to that fact. Oddly, I only crave it in winter. I can ignore the stuff all summer (proof that it's more medication than treat!)

We are so short! Nothing wrong with that. ^_^

Me too! The Ranger and I go to Dog Shows, even though we don't even own a dog. We were at an AKC show where we spotted a couple w/a dog being asked to leave (?!?) and we caught up to them to ask... "Is that an Argentine Dogo??" :D They had one, and didn't realize that AKC shows don't allow non-competitor dogs... or non-AKC breeds. Neat to meet one, though, because they're so rare. Amiable but slightly standoffish, very self-possessed. Let us pet, but didn't display any interest in the attention.

8. I love quirky Canadian music

I had 80s Canadian Music flashback for Xmas: I got an old GOWAN cd!!

14. .....Rush,...

Greatest. Band. In. The. World. Srsly.

:D

Dogs are just neat! I look at the different breeds and it amazes me, the diversification that happens through selective breeding. Incredible.

OMG I KNOW who Gowan is...how's that for quirky? "Strange Animal" was a fave song of mine in the 80's.

I saw Rush twice in concert...saw them do "Red Barchetta" during the Permanent Waves" tour in '80 I think? They were & are incredible (but Geddy Lee remains the ugliest dude in rock...seriously).

I had NO IDEA you were that short. My roommate is the exact same height as you and I tower over her. That's... huh. I need a minute to wrap my brain around that-- I always thought you were taller than me, must have been some kind of energetic perception thing. XD

Yes I am so short! Even in Japan, everyone towers over me. I'm ok with it though.

Hmm, I thought I already knew your height...and the strange thing is, I was wondering about it yesterday when I was in Ottawa (I don't remember why...I think it was when I was looking at clothes.) I knew you were short (you can tell from photos, or at least I always had the impression you were notably shorter than I am) but I thought five four or five three. (Basically anyone more than one or two inches shorter than me is short, in my books.)

Five one is really itty bitty, though. :D That means you're probably small enough for me to cart you around like a kid. That tickles my funny bone, for some reason. I carried a girl in junior high around like that, once, when she was looking for attention by pretending she'd twisted her ankle (I knew she was pretending but I carried her anyway...all the way from the far outfield into the school cafeteria. Yeah. Told you, I was a freakishly strong kid! She only weighed about a hundred pounds but I was only 13, so...)

*suddenly has a weird desire to see if she can carry Meri* Piggy backs are no challenge...it has to be bridal-style :)

OMG SO SHORT. But don't try to carry me; you'll hurt yourself & I'll get dropped. ;-)

From: [identity profile] golden-meliades.livejournal.com

You'd be surprised how much I can carry. :D I can lift my dad (not CARRY him, just lift) and he's 220 lbs. Anyway, I don't lift people all the way if I realize I'll end up dropping them, lol.
