Oh no, it is going to get COLD here this week!  It's about 15 degrees outside right now and guess what?  That's what will pass for a high temperature this week.  On Thursday the high temp is supposed to be 2.

See...it's so lovely in the summertime; the sun sets at 9:30 PM and it's warm and 80-ish for most of the summer and the lake moderates the temperatures and blunts the force of storms (so we never get tornadoes or scary stuff like that) and it's just plain glorious.  The flipside?  Well, I'm living on the flipside of all that right now.  *sigh*  Three more months...just three more months.  By April I'll be on the bike trails again.

In the meantime I'm keeping myself super busy!

Another "Harlequin Romance" mask.   You know...I actually really like doing them!

I also worked on a bunch of little dragon half-masks 'cause I had a lot of Etsy requests for those.

Oh, and hey I figured out a sure way to get swamped with orders; just announce "I'm bored!  Got any suggestions for fun new ideas?" in my LJ.  Apparently it's a lot like washing your car (and then it rains).  But I'm still working on a gothic cathedral mask & a "Great Wave" mask.  'Cause yeah, the artist has to love what she does or it's about as much fun as being an accountant.

Meanwhile, my middle is finally beginning to feel better after my bout of ab-workout-stupidity.  I totally crippled myself!  Well, it was a good weekend to stay in and get some work done anyway, I suppose.

By the way; I saw a movie called "Little Children" on HBO.  Kate Winslett was in it...it was an incredible movie but absolutely disturbing.  What "Desperate Housewives" wants to be (if it was a serious study about truly desperate, selfish housewives and not just a silly romp).   Anyway it was one of those movies that stays with you & makes you think...a lot like "American Beauty" in many ways.   I love movies like that.

More work to do!  I still have a few Etsy requests to finish today.

I know! It's supposed to get bitterly cold here this week as well, though it sounds like you're supposed to get even colder. Brrr!

Glad to hear that you're busy again on Etsy. Busy is good.

And I'm glad that you're recovering from all those crunches you did.

Oh man SO COLD. Tomorrow the windchill is supposed to be between -20 and -30. That's...unbelievably cold. And of course I have things to do that involve going outside... :-(

Been keeping the ball rolling in Etsy. It's hard work, seriously. I'm jumping through hoops but that's ok...good to be actually making money in these terrible times.

If you have to be outside, bundle up, cover everything you can, and don't stay out too long--at least the weather forecast here warns about dangerously cold temperatures and you don't want to get frost bite or hypothermia.

I can't wait to see your wave masks.

Yeah - have you seen *our* forecast for the end of the week? Negative numbers for the lows! I am SO glad that Bob found someone to sell us wood for the woodstove. It's so much nicer when the floors are warm. Also, I worry less about losing power with a big hot metal box in the kitchen.

I can't wait to see what a gothic cathedral mask looks like.

Cold snaps suck...there's just no way around them. You can always dig out of too much snow, but you can't reason with too much cold. All you can do is hide from it.

A wood-burning stove sounds heavenly. *envies you*

Ooh, I'm excited to see how the Great Wave turns out!

I really love this Harlequin mask--I like the balance of the two roses with the bud, it's very elegant and graceful *admires*

I have a copy of the book Little Children--I think I do, anyway. A couple of my friends really loved it.

The Great Wave is gonna be cool! Small, but cool. Probably another "Brigantine" (I will love it but it will never be a "hit"), but that's okay. It's my favorite piece of art ever.

"Small Children" was an awesome movie...I need to check out the book! I'm sure it's deeply disturbing too.

Hi there, you hard-working, ab-hurting, snow-shoveling artist! Little Children, I should look it up. Take care. All that cold must make thoughts of skinny dipping all the more fun!! Delirious.

LOL...I am also a granola-crunching tree-hugger don't forget! I would totally go to a beach party with you (even if you DO delete all the weenies...).

Hey Meri! In the 'gothic' line...what about a 'poison apple' mask? Or a black rose mask? Spider lily? Or...a crow/bat mask?

Ooh, a nice gothic lace mask. *has a secret lace fetish, though she has NO idea where it came from* It's amazing how easily a sweet and innocent sort of thing like lace can be made gothic...I just got a black satin top with a hook/eye closure front and a lace-up back that is made out of lace in the upper half (above the chest). It's black, so it looks a teeny bit gothic, too.

Mmm, lace... It seems like such a granny thing to like, though!

PS: Actually a line of exotic flower masks might be interesting, also...or exotic leaf masks. Something out of the ordinary. You may believe I could easily help you find some interesting plant varieties if you were ever interested in something like that. :)

Ooh, toad lily mask...it would look all alien...

Black lace could make an interesting cross over to Steampunk--it has that kind of Victorian air to it.
