Brrrr!  Okay, I know this is hardly original since practically everyone on my f-list is saying the same thing, but it is COLD out there today.

Seriously...so cold.   Freeze-your-butt-off cold.  I'm wearing two sweaters and a scarf and a pair of wool socks and I'm only just reaching a state where I have ceased to shiver.   I look ridiculous.

Also I am compelled to eat BAD things, like macaroni & cheese.   I sat here fighting the urge for like, an hour...until I finally got up & made some awful Kraft Macaroni & Cheese from a box.  It was delicious, and I have to wonder why since I normally HATE the stuff.  I'm certain it's the animal part of my brain telling me to eat fatty salty cheesy awful carbs because I might DIE if I don't.  Right now, my lizard brain says the perfect follow-up to a huge bowl of awful Kraft Macaroni & Cheese would be a big fat mug of hot chocolate.  I'm telling it to shut the hell up.

It's not exactly snowing outside...I don't know what to call it.  It's as if all the moisture in the air is freezing & falling, but it's not really snow.  There are no real clouds (in fact the sun is shining in a flat silvery not-warm way)...there's just this frozen mist sifting down lightly.  It looks like powdered laundry detergent.

Days like this, I don't know why the heck I live here.

Freeze-your-butt-off cold.

Poor Meri and all of you Yankees. I watched the news and it made me shiver. I hesitate to tell my northern friends what the temp is here...so I guess I won't, but I am sending keep warm thought to you all. Be careful and don't turn into a Popsicle. BTW...I think the Blue mask is going to be my favorite unless you do a purple one.

Re: Freeze-your-butt-off cold.

This cold is sapping my will to live. If I could hibernate through this week like a bear, I would.

You live there because that's where your house is.

See how often these simple solutions elude us?

(And I can make snarky comments because it's just as cold here. And I like it.)

LOL...yes yes. This is so. Actually, two more years and Char will graduate, and at that point I'm free to MOVE. Been talking to Greg about Virginia. Richmond area is so lovely and hey, they don't have 6 months of winter there (more like 4, which I can totally handle).

You like the cold because you have neat things like fireplaces! And wood-burning stoves! Lucky, crazy Yank. ;-)

Yeah, it was -34 C when I woke up. THat's about -30 F. Meh, I don't care. If you dress properly with layers and scarves and hats and so on, it doesn't feel any colder than any other day. Actually I was out yesterday in a mesh lace shirt with my coat all the way open and I didn't feel a bit cold...only my hands were suffering, and they ALWAYS freeze because they're so damn thin. (Only part of me that is!) I didn't feel particularly cold at all. Weirdly, it's INSIDE that I get all frozen...

How are the new mask designs coming along? Oh, I left a few more (seriously, I'm quite into the idea of a gothic line, or maybe a Victorian line) on your...was it two entries ago? Anyway it was after everyone else had already commented so it came late and you said LJ was screwing up a lot lately so you might not have gotten the notification for the comment, so if you didn't, yep...ended up leaving another blort of 'ooh, this'd be cool!' suggestions two entries ago or so. THe lace and the poison apple and so on.

God, if I could draw! If I could draw...wow, that would open my possibilities up hugely. I'd come up with so many weird things...

Waaah...I'm just hating the deep freeze right now. :-( I get chilled and then I just STAY that way, and not much helps. It makes me feel like sleeping all the time ('cause my bed is so warm with like 3 quilts piled on it).

I need to do some exercise but there is NO way I'm going out to the gym...heck no. *eyeing the stationary bike*

I'll check my responses...LJ has been buggy & funny & yeah I probably missed something. Of course now that I have so many neat suggestions I'm actually getting orders but I'm not complaining. Money is good!

Because come summer you will be loving it again where you are where the US south will melting under heat and humidity? Because it's too expensive to move to the West coast and anyway you'd rather deal with cold than earthquakes? *Grin*

It's bitterly cold here, too. I know that there are places where it gets even colder--that doesn't make me feel any warmer. Even my husband, who likes cold temperatures, found it bitterly cold yesterday--then again, he was in the field checking out equipment on the roof of the job site.

I always eat more when I'm cold, even though I'm not as active so I shouldn't really need more calories. But food--especially warm, filling foods--always sound really good.

True...when you look at the big picture, in the Spring/Summer/Fall you really can't beat this area. It's lovely.

It's just November through March really, really sucks. Five months of misery. If I was a bird I'd just fly away.

I have to avoid the bad food! I definitely eat badly when it gets this cold. I'm like a bear.

come on down!

Its a balmy 50 degrees right here, right now. Sorry... I like cold and we don't get enough of it here. Then again, I've only once lived thru a really cold northern winter (in Ottawa, Canada), so... the cold is always a "novelty" to me. Something to get excited about. I'm sorry you feel you look ridiculous. I bet your really look kinda cute and cuddly. :)

Re: come on down!

Waah! I wish I could! Mel up there *points up at Golden Meliades* is from Ottawa so she doesn't seem to mind this cold. I have lived here in Western NY almost all my life but I still hate Winter like poison. I'm meant for warmer climes.

Love the picture "Walken in a ..... Too Funny. You need to move here in the winter. Not much to do but not that cold either.

I know...how awful is this???? Stupid Arctic weather pattern.

From: [identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com

With the windchill, we are at a balmy -12 right now. Compared to the -40 expected up in Maine I guess you could say I'm...lucky?

Stationary bike helped a little. Really, nothing's going to fix this but the first day of 70+ temps and I predict that'll be in May. So just four more months yay! *sarcasm*

Not quite so cold in Tokyo but I know where you are coming from. I put on several extra layers internally when I go skiing. All those hotel buffets make it quite easy in fact...

Just as long as your fingers are warm enough to work, you'll be fine and chipper! I am being inspired by you and working like a little busy bee.

From: [identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com

I really think there's some deep biological trigger that goes off in our bodies when the weather gets cold and dark...makes me want to eat carbs and chocolate in an unhealthy way. I fight it, but I lost the battle today Andrea: 0...Kraft Macaroni & Cheese: 1.

I am a busy bee though! Makin' stuff.
