Firstly, a mask just sent yesterday to the saintly and patient chibi_kaz , who ordered it like, a million years ago I think.
It is a firebird mask, based on the firebird of Russian folklore. I got busy with little details 'cause I like it like that.
I really don't make enough bird masks. I mean, I have made owls, that Venetian raven, & really that's about it. I'm adding this one to the repertoire though because I really like it.
Yesterday, "Friend's Day" gifts from

The very neatest thing she made (it's all wonderful, but this one is my favorite) is a hairstick she called "Opening Night"...

It features a tiny polymer clay mask...isn't it just the prettiest thing? I so totally wish I'd had this to wear in Japan for the opening night of "Magicarade"...it would have been perfect. As it is I'm sure I'll be finding plenty of excuses to wear it.
And this lovely stick is called "Desert Wind"...

...in my very favorite colors, no less. It makes me feel warm and sunny just looking at it. I must have the most amazing collection of hairsticks in the world now, thanks to Mel. Her work is all so wonderful that I hardly know which one I like best...I have one for every mood and season.
Visit her Etsy shop! Everything there is beautiful and very reasonably priced, & she ships everywhere too.
I have to say, I am so thankful for the wonderful friends I have made here in LJ. When I think about it, I realize you guys have really changed my life. I've actually met several of you IRL now, and it's always a wonderful thing & never scary or unfamiliar when I do get to finally meet an LJ friend in person. I think I started my journal in 2005...wow! That's four years, and Mel's been with me from the start. *hug* A true-blue friend. ^__^ Thanks so much, hon. I hope four years from now I'm still here & still saying the same thing.
In other news, the Facebook ad seems to be REALLY working. I've had a busy day in my Etsy shop...selling like mad. I can't think what else it could be, so it must be the ad. I have no way of really tracking it. I must remember to put a request in my "message to the buyer" section, asking people where they found out about my shop. Still, yeah! Very happy about the money I spent. I'm declaring this a success (and the run is only half finished...I still have another week to go).
Yay for good news!

I figured the header was a good idea on several levels. One was that no one would miss it and accidentally blab. The other was that people would be curious, and click the cut...as lately LJ has been very dead for me. Heh, heh. (Okay, I can be a bit of a schemer.)
You're a good present receiver. It's always fun sending presents to you. A lot of people you give presents to and you don't feel anything from it...once they leave your hands it's kind of like you didn't send anytyhing at all, but not with you. And you alwasy like the stuff! Far as I know, anyway.
Yep four years! We were friends within the first month of my joining LJ. :) It'll be fun to come down and visit you. I'm thinking of flying from Ottawa to Buffalo to decrease stress, btw, of having to take the shuttle to the train and the train to Buffalo...this way I just get on the plane in a place I'm familiar with and then get off where you'll be. Much less stress for very-easily-stressed me.
Yay!
Oh, and hey...Google Analytics can tell you more about your traffic...if they click a link in Facebook or etc. Have you got an account? Etsy offers the set up right in the Your Etsy page under Shop Setup (Web Analytics.) It even gives instructions. It can probably tell you just where your customers are coming from, though it takes a bit of deciphering in some ways...

I LOVE your F-day gifts 'cause you put so much thought into them...they're very personal. Shows you really care about your friends. ^_^
Hey, thanks for the Google Analytics idea. I'll have to check them out. A tracking tool is the only way to really know how successful this ad actually is. Well, a free giveaway ("click this ad & tell me you followed this link from Facebook and you'll get a free gift with purchase!") would work, too. Maybe next time.
I wore "Beach" today (over a light brown sweater) and got three compliments! It's so pretty. Is it made out of wood? I'm curious, 'cause it looks too pretty & swirly to be wood.

You like so many things (and you like them a LOT) that it's easy to think of stuff, for you. Plus we talk a lot...stuff comes up. :)
Google Analytics does tell you where your Etsy traffic is coming from, though I'm not sure you could track specific sales...I have Google Analytics for my TFG blog but I never paid much attention...I just recently added my etsy account...it was SUPER easy. Took seconds, and since Etsy had the instructions for adding them to the Google Analytics account right there within the 'your etsy'...I didn't even have to get help. :) (I hate the technical stuff.)
That's great! It IS made out of wood...but I don't have the wrapper any more so I can't remember if it's a slice of something or if it's some kind of composite. But it's definitely wood. :) So is the paper around it.

Those are wonderful hairsticks! I still want to order some--though I doubt the ones I originally wanted are still available--but we had to wait because of unexpected bills. She makes beautiful ones.
I'm really glad that the facebook ad seems to be working for you!

No worries though... I only do this for a living. It's not like I haven't been pestering you about stuff like this, oh, for forever!! ;D
In other news, John's Layers article is online now. =)

Hmmm... maybe I'll just start commenting on your LJ instead of emailing you from now on. =D
BTW - It's 80 degrees here today. Yup... I've been in Florida for five years now... I live one block from the water in one direction and one block from a 40-mile bike trail in the other. (Thought I'd just say that here... maybe your LJ friends will shame you into finally visiting me.)
Kay! That's all!
Love you and miss you terrible bad! =(
