Oh wow...I'm so wiped out.  I decided to do a major cleaning.  Why, I don't know.  The sun is shining?  It needed to be done?

The worst job was the cat boxes.  Of course I scoop 'em every day, but I can't clean them because that must be done outside.  And it's been winter here.  So yeah...today I dragged the boxes outside, dumped 'em, hosed 'em, washed 'em, dried 'em.

First off; they are HUGE boxes & they each had about 40 lbs of cat litter in them.    Dinah (RIP) was a numbskull who never learned how to pee IN a box, so I have these gigantic CleverCat catboxes.  CleverCat is a dumb name for this product; if your cat was so damn clever it'd learn to pee in a box & not need a humongous top-entry tub.   Still, yeah.  It was better than trying to clean cat pee out of everything.
And then, poor idiot Dinah decided to mark up the house rather than use her newfangled catbox so I bought three of these things, & scattered them everywhere she was "going".  & she finally used them...a blessed event.

But now Dinah is no more.  Kumo is just one fellow & has impeccable bathroom habits (why are all my neatest cats reformed strays who lived in a barn at best, while my dirtiest most clueless nastiest kitties have all been pampered house cats from the very beginning?  It's so weird how that works out...).  So I retired a box and let him keep two.

This was supposed to take maybe a half hour.  Instead it took more like three.  There was all this vacuuming and cleaning and hauling and unforseen buying of neccessary stuff...OMG it went on and on.  Definitely, my least favorite job of this week.  *pout*

And now I'm too tired for a bike ride!    Plus, I have an SCA event to attend tomorrow with ALL my stuff in tow.  I don't even know where all my setup junk is...I haven't done an actual show or event in over a year.  And I have to do it alone because Greg hates doing anything on the weekend that doesn't include sleeping on a couch.  *sigh*

Good news: I JUST got my mail (finally...it seemed like my postman was lost or something.  Was wandering up & down my street for about two hours with random handfulls of mail & packages, like he was confused).  I asked Mary Jarvis to make a set of glass lentil beads, to match my Beach Heart that I got from her.  She did one better & made me a matching set with a NEW Beach Heart too.   So now I know what I'll be doing at that event tomorrow; knotting a new hemp necklace for these lovely new lampwork beads.

Mary & I exchanged art this time around...I LOVE bartering for stuff I find on Etsy.  It feels like the purest kind of acquisition; art for art.

Trying to cheer myself up:  I found this entry by following some links.  You must see it, short but hilarious & yet poignant at the same time.  Godspeed, Spacebat...Godspeed.   Poor little bastard.  You were too good for this world.

I'll probably go for a short bike ride anyway.  I'm so grumpy, I need one.

Wow, today was the day of Cleaning Doom! I spent 6 hours today cleaning my entire apartment.

Why yes, my mother IS coming to visit, why do you ask? @.@!! :D :D

Alas, due to emminent parental arrival, i'm not headed to that SCA event. Your masks were a huge hit at the Masquerade, though. Have fun tomorrow!

It was just a Good Day For Cleaning, all around I guess. I'm glad I did it...the house just seems happier now. ^_^

I'm so glad the masks were a hit! Where are you? Perhaps I should plan to attend one of your events. I forgot how much I enjoy SCA outings.

I'm over in eastern Massachusetts, so I do events mostly within NewEngland. I'm going to miss a bunch this spring, though, because of wedding & honeymoon et al.

You could always come do something East Kingdom and stay with us... Just sayin...

That is the least-good part about cats. Have to say, though, that clumping litter is my favorite invention of the last decade (along with i-pods and Marie's low-fat blue cheese dressing).

I find it hilarious that what is currently "knotted hemp" is what I called "macrame" when I was doing it in the early '80s... :-)

I hear ya on the cat boxes. I tend to scrub it out in the bathtub at least once over the winter.

I'm just assuming that you're not doing Pennsic again this year, correct?

Mudthaw tomorrow in New Jersey. My document is finished, so hopefully I can post pics on Sunday!

True! Hemp necklaces are so much less annoying, though, than the giant bright green polyester macrame cord frogs my Mom used to make. And the owls...oh god. With huge ceramic eyes. Oh...the 70's.

Pennsic is a big no, although I am considering just coming for fun instead of work. What a novel idea! The last time I did that was Pennsic 17, no lie. A few days in the sun (I hope) just hanging at Cooper's with friends...it sounds really perfect actually. And, I could finally attend some of those classes I always miss out on. Or, maybe I could teach one! Hmm!

Yes! Pics of your beautiful work...I'd like to see that.

I never made a giant macrame frog. Or any owls. I did make a bunch of necklaces like yours though. And plant hangers.

Hey - Pennsic just hanging out with friends! Cool! But if you teach, you have to promise to save a spot for me because lately I always miss out on the ones with limits.

Pennsic without you was very weird last year.

Space Bat

Oh my god... that was hilarious. I loved it - the comments were awesome as well but somehow, your "poor bastard" quote ranked right at the top with the Dracula is from the moon dialogue... <3

Re: Space Bat

Heh, I'm glad you enjoyed the link. It was simultaneously pitiful, hilarious, and almost optimistic at once.

I had a bunch of things to say about it. "Spacebat, We Hardly Knew Ye". "Death Of A Spacebat" There were others but I forget them now...

Oh noes...poor spacebat! That was tragically hilarious.

And god I love the beach heart + beads. Must save money...(but also must pay rent ^_^; ).

I know! The poor bat just wanted to find a quiet place to rest & the darn thing launched!

The Beach Heart is officially my Favorite Etsy Find Of The Month. Also, Mary is so great to work with. She'll make them to order, you know... ;-)
