Now, I don't know what it is about me that compels me to do this, but when I get sick I feel an irrational need to do two things:
1. complain about it
2. do things that are not conducive to getting better.

I had a horrible sore throat and a dizzy head all weekend and yet I insisted on riding my bike each and every day. Yesterday, in fact, I went for an incredibly long ride on the Erie canal trail when I knew I shouldn't. Plus, I did it during the hottest part of the day, on an unseasonably hot day. It was 85 degrees (which may sound like no big deal, but around here the humidity can kill you. I was walking around in 100 degree heat in Vegas thinking "no big deal" because the humidity was so low, but here 80 degrees with 95% humidity feels like being trapped in the bowels of hell), still, and SO humid. Char was a little worried because I had to stop so often and towards the end of the trip I was weaving. Pathetic!
Today, though, I was smart and stayed in bed for a long time this morning. So I feel a good deal better now.
Meh, it's passing anyways. *shrug* I bet it was viral.

AND, I made something pretty. Going to mail it to my brother as a thank you gift for hauling my sorry butt to Vegas for a visit. I'll put a pic of it in here after he gets it (don't want to spoil all the pretty shiny surprises because you never know when he peeks into this sad little LJ). :-)
Also, on a mini music-buying spree I got a couple of new CDs and they're making me very happy. "Ferment" by Catherine Wheel, from the early 90's when they were still doing that trippy psychadelic thing; sounds like beautiful demented carousel music. It's loopy and swirly and each song encorporates about 6 different kinds of electric guitar...which is A-OK in my book.
I also got some really old retro A-Ha which totally takes me back, "Hunting High And Low". A little dated, some of it, but some of it is SO pretty.

My sister-in-law's wedding is a little more than two weeks away. Costa Rica. *sigh* that's one hell of a long flight...but I'm starting to be a leetle bit excited about the trip. We're going to be at a private resort on the West Coast...some place called "Casa De Las Tortugas" (house of the turtles...?) and everyone's getting private villas with their own private pools. Surfing lessons (I am SO taking surfing lessons! I really hope my instructor's name is Escobar and he has long wavy black curls and a killer accent...) and horseback riding on the beach are some of the pre-planned activities. I shudder when I think what this is costing my in-laws.
Char and I are in the wedding party as bridesmaids. The dresses aren't half-bad actually, sort of mid-range blue and simple. Simple is GOOD when it comes to bridesmaid dresses. I've worn some scary confectionary nightmares in my day, but these have a minimum of frilly crap on them plus they're A-line so you know...they forgive a multitude of sins.
Marya wants us to have silver accessories, so Char and I went shoe shopping this weekend and picked up the CUTEST silvery sandals ever. She got these criss-cross strappy things and I got some silver thong-type sandals that look simply awesome on my tanned feet. I gave myself a pretty good self-pedicure and painted my toenails pearly white. I know it's not nice to brag, but nothing's cuter than my tanned toes with pearly polish. Yay for the little details that can totally make your day. :-)
We're going to look Faaabulous! Much picture taking will ensue, I'm certain.

Why do bridesmaid's dresses almost always tend to god-awful ugly/frilly? I was shopping with my friend's sister for her dresses, and the shops seriously only sold things that had us cringing. Is it a rule that you have to make your bridesmaids ugly so that the bride looks stunning no matter what?
But it does sound like this one looks good. I'm sure you'll be adorable. :D
(Still SQUEE!-ing at the icon, btw :3)

This is not my wedding, though. So, I'm just going to keep my mouth shut, smile, and wear the fru-fru dress. :-) Age has brought wisdom.
And Yay! I'm glad you like your icon. :-) Feel free to add text to it or whatever you like (I'm not adept at that sort of thing, myself).

Silly woman, keeping in motion while you're sick does NOT mean killing yourself. That's counterproductive unless you're suicidal. *reprimanding stare*
*huggle*

I better go hug my poor husband, now, (he does his best to channel his inner Escobar).
And by the way...how was VA Beach? You must share!
