Ahh, I'm bad.  Bad bad LJ user, bad LJ friend.  Just plain bad.  I've been busy working and recovering from my trip and filling surprise HUGE orders...  Too freakin' busy to update or be entertaining in any way, shape, or form.  My bad.

I have yet to load my Costa Rica pictures because I suspect I'm going to finally have to break down and upgrade my photobucket membership to an actual ~paying~ membership.  Likewise for LJ.  The days of cheapo freebies are drawing to a close for me...I apparently have too much to say (and too many pictures to show) to continue on in this manner.  *shrug*

The weather here is intense and freaky.  Not unlike Costa Rica, we've been getting some fast moving thunderstorms that pop up in the afternoon heat and they're playing havoc with my evening bike rides.  I found myself racing home last night in a bit of a panic, with one eye on the sky as it went all Steven Spielberg-y on me (you know...the kind of black cloud alien invasions are launched from all the time.  Just check out Close Encounters Of The Third Kind or War Of The Worlds and you'll see what I mean).  This was completely understandable as there was a TORNADO here on Friday.  An actual tornado.  !!   Last time that happened was 1987.  It flipped a truck over on the thruway and it tore some roofs off...nothing too major.  But it DID freak everyone out and the local news was all over it for hours and hours.  You'd think Jesus had landed on the thruway, the way everyone was going on and on.   It was kind of sweet.  Stuff like that makes me love Buffalo.  We have it good here in many ways.

In spite of the occasional boomy noises coming from the sky, I've been really productive!  Usually, storms make me go all dreamy and I sit and stare out the window for hours and watch the light show.  I got more than my fill of "wrath of god" thunderstorms on vacation, however, so I'm just workin' right through all the distractions.  Doing some really good stuff...ambitious things.  I'll put pics up when I pay for the right to have more than a hundred pics on photobucket.  :-)

Back to work!

Edit:  Doh!  I'm such a monkey I forgot to mention the ONE thing I really wanted to talk about...   Char and I went to the free concert downtown on Thursday (Buffalo's free concert series, Thursday In the Square) and saw The Trews and 54/40.  The Trews were AWESOME and really tore the place up.  I have their newest import CD and it was fun knowing how cool they were even before they started playing (everyone was blown away...no one really knew who they were except for myself, Charlotte, and the Canadians).  54/40 is OLD and they made me feel old.  I remember when "Baby Ran" came out and CFNY was playing it all the time...turns out that was twenty years ago!  I told this to my sister on the phone today and she screamed "WHAT??!" at me...apparently she's old too.  It comes as a terrible shock to us both.

If you got a paid LJ account, you wouldn't *need* a photobucket account...or at least you wouldn't need to upgrade. I think I upload more pictures than you, and even now, I'm STILL not quite at the quarter-full mark of the amount they allotted me at the beginning (2GB). Plus this way it gives you the nifty 'post to journal' option in your galleries and you can choose size and orientation and all of that in addition to captions and tags and blah blah.

I like having a paid LJ account. That way if anything ever goes wrong, whether with the services or with people, I feel fully justified in being very cranky and saying...hey, I PAY for this service. I'm not complaining about something I get for free, which would be pathetic and ungrateful. :)

Well I should get up. Can't decide if I want to go out biking now, as usual (I usually leave the house pre-six-am) or wait until it's a little warmer. All year so far it has been very cool during the night so when I wake up, it's only about 10 C. That makes riding COLD, with all the wind! *sigh* But it seems to be a bit warmer now...was yesterday, too. And all the storms...the summer weather must finally be kicking in.

Huh! Thank you! :-) I had NO idea paid LJ accounts included a url for picture loading. That'll save me some money. I'm not nuts about photobucket anyway, my pics get blurry and distorted there all the time.

It sounds like it's a good deal chillier where you are. I'm doing my bike rides in the evening because it's too hot during the day (and I work late every night, so that makes me a bad candidate for morning rides). Might have to change that though, because as much as I love my sunset hours the weather has been downright tropical.

Gods, I would kill for some freaky weather down here. It just blue sky, blue sky, blue sky, and did I mention blue sky? It's a little breezy, but thta's about the extent of it. *sigh* I love California, but the weather's always boring after winter :(

I love my paid account. Like Mel said, it makes it so I feel I have a right to be cranky about something if need be, because they have thrity of my hard earned monies (It takes me four hours to make that much :O ). Plus, the icons. I <3 icons XD

From: [identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com

Ohh! I'm going to need more icons! Poop. *sucks at making icons* I have a ton of funny ideas too (mel/goldie made this icon *points up* for me based on an idea I had). That's it, I'm putting out an APB for anyone who's willing to help make pretty icons for me!

If I know what you want icons made of, and what you want them to say (and if you want particular effects applied), I can always find images for ANYthing, and icon making is really quite fast. I did over 50 in one afternoon the other day...

You're on! :-) And I'll reciprocate in some spectacular fashion, I promise (just ask any of the folks on my f-list...I think about 80% of them have gotten something pretty in the mail from me at one point or another).

From: [identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com

...D'oh! I thought you were Zippy! Of COURSE you know I reciprocate! *is unintentionally obtuse today* :-)

From: [identity profile] golden-meliades.livejournal.com

Hehe, it might have been my icon (and the fact that I was replying to a comment you left in reply to Zipi). The animaniacs are a bit Zippyish. ;) She'd probably be happy to make icons for you, too, though. If you want anything KKM, she'd be the one to go to, that's for sure. :)

But yeah, just let me know, here on in MY lj, what you want...as much detail as you like...and I can almost certainly supply it. :)

From: [identity profile] zipis1.livejournal.com

Heehee. My obsession with KKM reigns supreme XD Hmmm...you know...I wonder if I can get Meri into it, too *ponders* I just love recruiting KKMers XD

I can of course make other icons, too, though. Like animations (I don't think Mel does those :P). You'd just have to let me know what kind you'd like :P

From: [identity profile] zipis1.livejournal.com

Mel already offered, but I could always make you some, too, if you'd like. It really is fun to do ^________^

I love thunderstorms! Up here it's been 100+ degrees every day for two weeks. (Fahrenheit, of course, or high-thirties to forties in Celsius.) I'll take boominess and wetness any day over this slow death by spitroast.

From: [identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com

Wow, that sounds freaking hot! :-( I'm no damn good in the heat, myself. Around here, it's humid because of the Lakes so even 80 degrees is too much. You've got the mountains though, so I'm guessing it's more like a dry heat, like you get in Las Vegas. When I was there visiting my brother, it got kinda "burny" hot one day and he informed me that it was 98 degrees...but I really didn't feel opressively hot, just sorta roasty. :-)

I've been neglecting LJ too. ^^' Busy, busy stuff.

It's just been raining here. And flooding. Followed by more raining and more flooding. The James River has never been so pissy.

From: [identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com

Oh wow...has there been a lot of rain in the East or WHAT?? I can't believe it. The cutoff for all the heavy rain was a bit to our east, fortunately, because with the Lakes and all the creeks and streams we'd have been in as much trouble as New England is right now. Can you say "global warming"? Grr.

Hope your garden didn't float away. :-(

From: [identity profile] rumdiculous.livejournal.com

Actually the downpour really did wonders on that garden. The corn grew almost two feet in like one night!
