List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

Okay.  :-)  I just wish I knew how to share music files (well...actually I DO know how...I'm just technologicaly incapable of doing it).

1.  Earthquake Weather, by Beck, from Guero...This song is so funky and cool.  It lives in my car...I think the CD has been in there all summer.  Definitely my favorite driving music.  I was gratified when I noticed [profile] moko_moko humming and bopping to it, on our trip through Canada.  Heehee!

2.  So She's Leaving, by The Trews, from Den Of Theives... I've seen these guys perform live twice this year...they really know how to belt out a good hard-rocking song.  Charlotte has a crush on the bass player.  The lead guitar solo in this is as fine as anything I've ever heard; not too long, not too flashy, just right.

3.  Teardrop, by Massive Attack, from Mezzanine...I've had this for years (the CD came out in '99) but the TV show House uses it in the opening credits and it reminded me how cool this song is, so I've been stuck on it again lately.  The rest of the CD is pretty cool too.

4.  Spark, by Tori Amos, from The Choirgirl Hotel... LOVE Tori Amos.  Just love her.  The piano break in the middle of this song is so lovely and tortured it makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time.

5.  Desire, by Talk Talk, from The Colour Of Spring  ...I was driving home on a Sunday night a few weeks ago and CFNY (out of Toronto, my favorite radio station since I was Char's age and the reason I grew up listening to the Talking Heads and Iggy Pop instead of Air Supply and Journey like all my unfortunate friends) played a house mix version of this song that blew my socks off.  Made me drive around aimlessly for ten minutes just to hear it all.  Can't believe I've never heard it...that's an old song from the 80s.  Of course I don't have that version; CFNY specializes in the obscure and extremely rare.  Still, this one's pretty good.  It's quiet and then angry and righteous all at once...I love the line: "that aint me babe, that ain't me babe.  Ain't got a bed of excuse for myself...".

6.  Here It Goes Again, by OK Go, from Oh No... Haha!  yeah I totally got sucked in by their online home-made viral video ...it's just the cleverest thing!  Also, this song is a hoot.  These guys are really catchy...they remind me of The Pillows; same kind of egdy pop sound.  It just makes me happy *bouncebounce* !

7.  Unto The Burning Circle by Andreas Vollenweider, from Dancing With The Lion... Well, anything by Vollenweider I guess, because I love all his work.  He plays a sort of funky jazz harp...it's hard to explain.  He's also strongly influenced by Celtic music and Asian music, so it has a sort of "world beat" flavor to it.  If I'm working, I'm almost always listening to Vollenweider.  He gets my mind working and my hands moving, and the art just flows...

So!  That's it.  It's hard to stop at just seven.  Speaking of seven...I know I'm supposed to tag people now and I hate doing that, because I feel like I'm obligating them.  So as always this comes with the admonition NOT to do it unless you feel like it.  :-)   Aaaand...

and [profile] pzb ....consider yourselves a little tagged.  :-)

In other news I was up all night in a pissy mood, making stuff.  S'funny how being in a bad mood can really get me rolling creatively-speaking.  I did a wall hanging, another plaque but this time smaller and no dragons (!!!).  Koi, of all things.  I'll have to get pictures and share.  Later...later...

AHA! I totally forgot to ask what that song was but you're so right, it was an excellent driving song, esp in that gorgeous countryside! Now I have no choice but to continue bopping along to it...

Hee! That whole CD is made of awesome. Guero has to be Beck's best CD yet, there's not one crap song on it (and E-pro kicks ass, btw...it used to be my favorite song for about a year after it came out. Couldn't get enough of it.). Definitely my favorite CD of '05.

Ohhh! The leaves are starting to change and everything's getting absolutely vivid here. :-) I was just on that bike trail the other day, grooving on the colors and wishing you could visit again...you'd love it right now.

Man...it just sounds so gorgeous. I can imagine the intensity of the color change among all those HUNDRED BILLION trees out there. Will definitely have to visit in the early fall sometime <3 <3

Am downloading Guero as we speak, YAY!
