Another mystery solved.  Today Greg and I happened to be in our driveway assessing tree damage, when he noticed a bundle of frayed, chewed up wires sticking out of the house.  Our cable hookup, it seems, temporarily caught Kiba's attention and, well... I'm not sure how to handle this when the Time Warner guy shows up on Wednesday (HUGE squirrels, maybe?).

Huskies:  Pretty, charming, cute, friendly, energetic, and fragile egos with teeth.  He probably got cheesed because we left him in the yard just a little too long one day, and there were these shiny, colorful new things sticking out of the house and BAM, no high speed cable.  *shrug*

Tomorrow, I'm going to the dentist again to have an old filling removed and replaced.  I had x-rays taken last week, and there doesn't seem to be any complications or infection but still...  Eeep!  :-(  I HATE going to the dentist.  I avoid it at all costs.  My wisdom teeth are cramming into all my other teeth and they really need to be removed, but they're really IN there and it'll involve surgery and bone saws to get 'em out of my jaw and I'm like "HELL no!", but I can't ignore this one freaking tooth...it just has to be fixed.  Last time it was worked on, the dentist gave me THREE shots of novocaine and then practically sat on me to finish drilling it out.  I have a congenital defect; tiny deep pits in my teeth which make it really easy to get cavities no matter HOW much I brush.  They're all filled now (years and years ago...it's been ten years since the last time I went to the dentist) and I haven't had a new cavity in at least that long, but this one freaking tooth waaaay in the back was just never finished correctly and it really hurts, all the time.  So, tomorrow I'm going to have to bite the bullet (HAHA!  *sob) and go to this new dentist and hopefully she won't torture me too long.  *freaked*

In other news; my butterfly kite from Thailand...it's STARING at me with one huge buggy paper mache' eye and it's a little disconcerting.   I moved it in here (the computer/guest room) to make room on the wall for the print [profile] pzb gave me,  (which looks awesome btw...I matted it myself with a big black matt and framed it with a huge 20 X26'' oak frame and it totally dominates my living room)...but now my kite is just sitting up there off to my right and it's rustling ever so slightly against the wall as the breeze from the heater moves it.  I keep startling and glancing up, and it keeps glaring back at me with it's gigantic monarch butterfly eyes.  Getting stared down by your own wall art is a creepy feeling.  I wonder how many of my masks do that  each and every night to people all over the world...perhaps it's Karmic justice?  :-)

I had two Siberian huskies growing up. The female, Adrian (thanks to my father, they were Rocky and Adrian) chewed through not one, but TWO water spouts on the back of the house. We also backed up to my elementry school and I can't tell you how many times they got out and I had to chase them around the school yard.

Egah....I'll think about you tomorrow.... I have so many issues with my teeth, I tend to start hyperventalating...I actually did when I went to have my wisdom teeth removed - I paid $300 extra to be knocked out and when the time came, they weren't going to do it...I FREAKED out and was ready to get up and leave. They found me some syrup that knocked my ass out, but I sure as hell was not happy about the whole situation.

Yeah....that probably didn't help at all, did it? XD

20x26??? DAMN woman!! XD I've usually matted it to 18x24...I know it's only another two inches on each side, but still....that just sounds huge. XD

Your huskies were completely normal, because wandering is right there in the breed standard (huskies get lost more than any other breed, btw). The chewing of non-food items is also, unfortunately, normal behavior for the average husky. *shrug* I'm thinking of getting a corgi ('cause Kiba needs a dog-pal and I LOVE having two dogs at the same time anyway) and I'm hoping the extreme obedience of one will cancel out the wild misbehavior of the other, and between the two of them I'll have one normal dog! *only half joking*

I survived the dentist! I'll elaborate later, but I just wanted you to know I made it. :-)

"20x26???"
Haha! Yeah, I know! But it looks awesome and I did a great job on that matt (I cut it myself with just a utility knife and a ruler). I LOVE big matts anyway, and the oak frame I found was SO perfect for an Art Nouveau piece...you really have to see it. *smooch* It looks just lovely. :-)

Awww, I send you lots of love and numbness for the trip to the dentist!

Thank you. *pout* I'm a big gigantic chicken when it comes to dentists. I've been severely traumatized by a few of them and I don't handle that well, even though I'm older and I should know better.

Ack! No dentist love, that's for sure. *sympathy glomp* I need to get my 4 wisdom's out and after hearing people telling me about all the cracking and crunching, I was outta there. No helping it with the tooth pain though, I hope you feel better once it's out/fixed up.

*shakes head* And silly, silly, Kiba.

Ugh...tell me about it! I'm SO delaying the wisdom tooth removal because the whole idea has me so freaked. My sister had hers out years ago. She said headphones with loud music takes care of the noise, but I don't believe her. I'm going to need to be REALLY drugged to do it, I think.

Anyway I survived the dentist and it was a little hilarious, so I'll have to relate that story in a later entry. I'd do it now but LJ keeps kicking me out. Grrr. I'd blame it on the dial-up connection (thank you, Kiba. Thank you so bloody much) but I hear everyone is having LJ connection problems lately.

Ooo! And! I know I drew Waka (he's back there in my entries from last week...somewhere), but I still really REALLY want you to draw Waka for me. :-) You're so much better than I am at people, and I'd LOVE to see your take on him. I just couldn't resist trying myself 'cause he's just so darn cute! Isn't it funny how you perceive him as bitchy and arrogant the first time you play the game, but with subsequent re-plays you realize he's not being bitchy at all...just honest? He really IS the god's gift to man! lol!

For what it's worth, my wisdom teeth were a piece of cake. Mom insisted that I have them out before I went to college because 1. they'd be guaranteed to abscess during finals, and 2. while we still had dental insurance. Two of them were impacted. They knocked me out, and when I woke up I was four teeth fewer than I had been. I even still have them - in a weird way they were too cool to throw out. I swelled up a bit afterwards, but everything was fine. Had a little codeine, had a little nap, went to school the next day. The worst thing was my own stupidity - I tried to drink orange juice. Wow did that hurt!

I had another tooth out a couple of years ago - after two root canals, multiple infections and gum surgery I decided that I was done playing with it. They gave me lots of novacaine and also gas to calm me down, so I was pretty loopy. It wasn't bad. Don't mistake me, it wasn't good, but it was neither painful nor traumatic.

I've heard so many horror stories about wisdom teeth...it's good to hear one that's not so...horrible! :-)

I've already asked about the possibility of being knocked out/loopy for the wisdom tooth extraction, but my office says they don't do that. *pout* Not many places around here will. I guess there's too much risk of something going wrong, when more drugs are involved. Maybe I can get my doctor to write a scrip for a valium or something like that (that stuff totally knocks me on my ass)...just one so I can get through the thing without freaking out too much.

At any rate, I DID survive this appointment on Monday and I'm so proud of myself! They were very nice and understood about the dentist phobia. I shook like a leaf the whole time, and the poor girl who worked on me (who looked maybe 25) was almost as nervous as I was, but I got through it with no fussing and only a little pain. So yay! The tooth still hurts though...we suspect it's my wisdom teeth pressing into the roots that're causing the discomfort, so that'll be the next thing I'll have to do. *sigh* I'm waiting til after the holidays, though.

Mine wasn't horrible at all. I actually got a couple of funny stories out of it that I've been telling for years.

Dental anesthesia is much more unreliable than medical - I know that they use a different drug, and it's a bit of the amateur hour I suspect. What you might want to inquire about is if you can have nitrous oxide in addition to the novacaine. It'll be an extra charge, but it helps. At least in *my* dentist's office (and my dentist is *wonderful*), it's a little nose mask and the setup allows you to self-medicate. If you need to be foggier, you breathe through your nose. If you want to sharpen up, you breathe through your mouth. The gum surgery and the extraction a couple of years ago was probably fairly awful, but I just didn't care. La la la la la, look - there's dots on the ceiling... It didn't hurt, and the gas made me completely disconnected. At the end of the whole thing several deep breaths will bring you back up to full speed, which is MUCH nicer than a general. You can drive, for one thing.

I know that you don't want to, but look into it. If they're starting to give you trouble, you're looking at the potential for abscess, and then you're looking at an emergency procedure. Never good. But definitely wait until after the holidays!
