Well. I finished those masks. Eight little half masks...because they're relatively inexpensive and I know they'll sell out at this weekend's show. They look good too. I did a bunch of little dragons and a bunch of celestial masks. One was a casualty of the fact that I'm the Mom of a teenager...it crisped in the oven while I yelled at Charlotte over some infraction. I don't yell often, but when I do it consumes me and distracts me (I blame all that French/Italian/ European blood)...and so my poor mask is no more. I had to throw it out which HURTS. because by the time I bake it I've already spent a couple of hours on it.
Oh well.
*sigh* Going to bed before 4 am? What luxury!
EDIT: OMG Read this if you've ever known a bad doggie. SO funny.
Oh well.
Today, I got yet another wonderful package...this time from
smillaraaq! She bought some koi nobori for me from Ginza and they are JUST what I wanted. I hung one outside right away and it looks so festive. The other will go on my wall, with my butterfly kite from Thailand. It'll be a very international, fluttery wall.
She also sent some requested daruma dolls. I bought one for Charlotte in San Francisco, never thinking about myself and I think I'm the one who really needs one! Also, my Mom-in-law LOVED it when she saw it and hasn't stopped talking about them, so the second one will be hers.
Thank you to my f-list, again, for being especially sweet this week. Gift packages from smilla,
moonphased, and
golden_meliades...I hardly know what to do with myself! Lovely things are in the works for all of you...I've just been too busy this week with all the unexpected shows (and articles, and trips) that have suddenly cropped up. Rest assured boxes marked "Merimask Designs" will be heading out soon. I just hope you like your gifts as much as I like mine. :-)

That bad sweet-potato eating dog! I don't know why but for some reason I think it must be a yellow lab. Every one I've ever met is a starving food hound.

I still need to sift through all those moosedog pictures for references for you...just have not had the time and energy to poke through my twisty maze of unthumbnailed photo directories. Sooooo much to do...
And the dog link is hysterical -- best Crazy Dog story since the infamous Dogs In Elk! Sweet potato? WINTER SQUASH? what a goof. Reminds me of the time I caught Jake in the yard, playing a solo game of catch with a moldy potato he'd dug out of the compost heap.
