I'm starting to get butterflies! Flying is exciting and terrifying at the same time. It's Southwest though, and something about their sense of humor (and the fact that they don't SQUISH you into the plane like a sardine in a can) makes flying with them not so scary. The flight to Vegas is interesting too, and there's a real party atmosphere on the plane which is palpable. Landing there is always a surprise...you just can't believe the airport is practically on the Vegas strip! You see the Luxor flash by as you touch down on the runway. VERY neat.

I printed my E-ticket. You have to love online check-in...it's made of awesome.

I am studiously NOT talking about my cat. See?

(He's a little booger)

[livejournal.com profile] golden_meliades got her package in the mail already...woo! That's about the fastest anything has ever reached her. I'm amazed! I made a bunch of leaves for her...all with holes punched in them so she can use them in her jewelry and hairsticks. I can't wait to see what she comes up with.

It got COLD here. A cold front moved in about 24 hours ago and it's pretty damn chilly...in the fifties. I bought all kinds of warm-weather stuff for my trip to Vegas, because I know how hot it gets there. Looking forward to wearing it, because I'm FREEZING here.

Go ahead and pet Stucky. He likes you.

my pet!

Still have to pack. *le sigh* I always forget something. Oh well, I have a whole day to think about it.

We flew Southwest two years ago to Salt Lake City for my cousins wedding. Most fun I've ever had on an airplane. The variations on the standard announcements were hilarious:

"If the cabin should lose pressure, stop screaming, let go of your neighbor's hair, and adjust the mask over your nose and mouth..."

"Finish adjusting your mask before assisting children, passengers acting like children, or your husband."

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain. I am proud to say that Southwest Airlines has some of the finest cabin crew in the industry. If you look out the windows, they are in the plane directly to our right." "Don't tell them what I said. They never listen to the pilot announcements and don't know why you're laughing."

"There is a $2,000 federal fine for tampering with a lavatory smoke detector. And if you wanted to pay $2,000 for this flight, you'd be on Delta right now."

It was a BLAST. Enough to make me forget how unhappy take-offs and landings make me.

It was QUITE a cold front. We had a huge hailstorm here yesterday. Complete with security announcing over the PA "We are currently under a tornado watch. Employees are advised to stay inside for your safety and move away from exterior windows." So of course everyone rushed to the windows to see. I've never seen hail that big - golf ball size. Luckily my car came through without any dents.

That's why I LOVE flying Southwestern. They don't take themselves so seriously...it helps a nervous flier relax a bit, y'know?

It DID get cold. All the big storms missed us though. It was warm, then windy, then cold. No weather drama.

I wouldn't mind hearing about your cat. Why's he a booger?

And your hedgehog is sure a coinky dink. We just adopted and gave one back a week or so ago :)

Kumo is a booger because he has such ATTITUDE! He is beating up Kiba...really! I never would have guessed a six lb kitty could be so full of trouble. Now that he's accepted this place as his home, he's decided to rule with an iron...paw.

Char thinks she wants a hedgehog. I'm...not entirely sure about it.

Hahahahahahah!!!

I guess he's had to be a tough kitty to survive things... :)

Sounds like he'll make life interesting! XDDDDD

*and regarding the hedgehog*

I don't know how much you know about them, but you need to carry it around against you, for about 10 days to let it get used to your smell and stuff. They curl up in a ball and start popping *I swear to god, it's popping* and they hiss. But that seems to be during the initial adjustment period, unless they need get scared. Apparently the lady I got this one from really liked her last one, and you can pet them *stroking the right way of course, lol* He wasn't a nervous fellow, and they had cats and everything. Apparently they're very good pets once you get them used to everything, but that initial time period to get them adjusted is a pain. On the bright side, your other animals will quickly learn to leave them alone. :)

*I asked why she was giving it up, and it's because they have a baby who's close to a year, and he keeps wanting to touch it... they bought a ball to put it in so he could run around and the baby would be safe, but then the cats started batting him around... XDDDD*

I do love Southwest. At Christmas they had everyone singing carols. XD I'm trying to remember if I've flown with them to LV...I must have, since I've been there a couple of times. Have lots of fun!!!

I like Southwest SO much more than American. They really pack you into those American planes...some of the smaller ones are brutal.

I intend to have a great time. :-) I always have fun with John.

Stucky is friend to all, like Gamara!

EEEE, it is soon! I'm so excited to hang out with you guys *bouncebounce*
Yar, I hope I bring everything (still debating over the laptop) and it doesn't end up being too zany hot out there. Here's to you having a fab flight *pets the e-ticket of awesome* :3

From: [identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com

lol...I can sing the WHOLE Gamera song for you (ask me some time).

Yay! You're going to love Vegas, kiddo. You probably should bring your laptop, or at least know all your specs for your setup. I bet John's going to be working with you almost exclusively through e-mailed files...stuff like that. It's how he works, too.

*hug* See you Friday! What time do you get in?

From: [identity profile] moko-moko.livejournal.com

I am so asking you to, watch yourself now!

The camera shall be put into overdrive over the course of these 2 days. Neon and architecture and bizarre people! I'm good with working like that since my laptop is a beast, it can probably solve world hunger and cure aids, but I think I'll bring it anyways. *strokes it*
If all goes well, I shall land there at 10:17pm. Blah, sorry for the late night, but I didn't want to take a full day off work.
(...yes I did.)

From: [identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com

10:17...gotcha. John prolly has all the info anyway. I'm just being uber-micromanage-y tonight 'cause, y'know, flying nerves.

Hang onto my cell phone number. If we have trouble finding you in the airport on Friday, you can always call me (I'll leave it on).

Whee!
