And I also have a soft spot for Riku, because I was a Riku fangirl at one point, too. ;) I would also sugest "Kiri" (Mist) but that sounds more feminine, and kitteh is a boy kitteh, yesyes? :D
And I betcha you're just going to end up calling him "Mrow-mrow" or "Hey, cat," anyway. XDD
Yeah, Kumo is my favorite but Greg HATES it (I figure my vote counts twice because I'm the one who scoops out the dreaded box twice a day, y'see).
I figger this name is mostly for his vet records, as I always end up nicknaming my pets (Tucker was "StinkPot", Kiba is "Booger" and "PrettyBoy", Dinah is "Football-shaped kitty" and also "Lardbutt")
I HAVE to ask...what IS your giunea pig's name? I must know how "Hairball" sounds in Japanese. :-)
My parents had a grey cat when I was in high school named Arthur. It was such a dignified name. Sometimes he lived up to his name and my mom called him "Sir Arthur." Usually, though he was a goofball--not dignified at all--so we jokingly called him "Wart" after Arthur in Disney's Sword in the Stone.
I like the name Kumo or a cute, cuddly, furry fluff-ball, myself :)
Really, I like all the names. Kumo is my favorite, though.
When he was small and would scream in the store, his voice was so high pitched and LOUD that I thought someone had set off the alarm in the store by burglarizing something; I seriously wish I was kidding on that point.
Spoiled, loud and obnoxious, who screamed murder everytime he didn't his way in the slightest bit. Uhm, that would make a one interesting cat though ;p
lol...oh boy! I actually LIKE vocal cats. Claudia & I would have long discussions all the time. She taught me how to speak "cat", and I know it's universal because once I used it on a young mountain lion in a zoo and he answered back!
Hey, just thought of something. It's a rather silly idea, but...
Our little white fluffy dog was extremely cute when he was little, so cute that *I* was actually the one who took my dad to see him in the store. So cute that my dad had to buy him even though we already had a dog. VERY VERY CUTE, in other words. He was pure brilliant white with perfectly round black eyes...a Maltese. (He might have something else in him but I think he's all Maltese.) He looked like a confection.
Anyway, my sister decided to name him Loki, as he looked like an impish little mischief. Dad and his brother, however, insisted that he looked like a 'Bill'. (Ridiculous. A dog that looks like candy-fluff can't possibly appear to be a Bill!)
Long story short, he wound up with the name Loki William George Winchester the Third. He really does get called Bill and Loki equally, and often Loki Bill. It's a dumb name. However, it did stick.
You can always give kitty multiple names and just primarily use the one you like best. Like...name him Arthur Von Kumo. Sounds a bit like a vampire, but hey! Cats can pull of a vampire name :)
That's not nutty at all! In fact, that may be the perfect compromise. Charlotte & I both love Kumo but Greg refuses to call the cat anything but Arthur. I believe it was T.S. Elliott that said a cat has several names (including the secret one that only the cat knows)...so perhaps you have the answer. :-)
Hee. I was just about to make a similar suggestion. We couldn't agree on what name to call the cat that my parents got after Arthur. She ended up being officially named Madam Curie Muffin Roswell. :)
Seconded, or thirded, or whatever -- a double-barrelled cat name is always amusing and lets everybody have a say in what name kitty will cheerfully ignore.
Although I do like "Kumo" best, as it's nicely short and snappy, suits his coloring and arking so well, and is just generally pretty. It doesn't seem particularly strange or exotic to me, but I do realize growing up in Hawai'i has pretty much warped my standards on that front! :)
I voted for Von, because I like literary cat names too! Ours (at home...stupid no-pets apartment) are Sabriel (after the Garth Nix book) and Gareth (after the Arthurian legends). Also I think it's cute.
Gee, a name that means spider, do I even have to vote?? XD
Ha, Rikku. If you name him that he may be prone to moping around wangsting about his past mistakes. But on the plus side, the name matches his perty green eyes.

If Dinah was a boy-cat, she'd definitely be an Arlo.

Arthur has always been in the back of my head. Like "King Arthur", for sure, and also "Art" for short. It sounds like a reasonable name.

Kumo is by far the leader. Greg is disgruntled (but that's too bad for him...he'll just have to become gruntled because this is MY cat).
