Yep, sorry for yesterday.  I think Angel was right...I think the loss of my daily bike ride means I don't get my daily endorphin fix, & that is probably what is making me nuts.   Greg got home in time for me to take a short ride yesterday, & I'm pedalling along & crying at the same time like a freaking loon (though I did feel lots better by the time I was done).  Also I was crying yesterday because I was watching the Ellen show, & Ellen was upset because a puppy she placed in a home got confiscated by the adoption agency.  It's a stupid thing but I am obviously unbalanced 'cause I was crying about it.

And no...I do not have my period.  So it can't be hormones.  Already thought about that.

I guess I've replaced my addiction to chocolate with an addiction for exercise.  Both cause an endorphin rush, & that's what most depression drugs do anyway (stimulate endorphin production), so I guess it's no surprise.

I better be sure to join an exercise club or something for the winter (there's a new all-women's club just up the road from us...not even a five-minute drive from my house).   I go for long winter walks with Kiba too, & believe me it's a workout just keeping up with him.  Once I'm mobile, all will be well.

I may be mobile soon, in fact.  I refuse to get excited about it, but my car is possibly done.  I will reserve judgement until I actually drive it home...last time, it was blinking warning lights at me & stalling & was obviously not right.  Four thousand dollars later, it BETTER be right.  It still has the original oil leak it had before all this drama started, by the way.  That's another 800 or so to fix.  Honestly, if we'd been informed just how expensive all this work would be, we'd have paid the damn thing off & I'd be driving a '05 Subaru Outback by now.  *pout*  Live & learn.  I think mechanics live for people like us.  They see people who'd rather fix a thing than throw it away, & dollar signs start flashing before their eyes.

My Dad was like that.  He had a Volvo repainted twice because he loved that car & just kept it going forever.  I don't know if it's a learned behavior or something in the genes, but I obviously have that trait too.  I never have the newest, shiniest version of anything & I'm ok with that.  As long as it WORKS.

Oh well.  *sigh*

In other news; the Etsy thing is going really really well.  I have a repeat customer!  Also, big hugs for Suze & Charis, for placing orders as well.  Everything will be in the mail tomorrow.  I'm putting a few new things up today...hopefully between getting my car & taking Char to her medical appointment I'll have time to finish a fox mask or two.  Busy busy.

You all rock.  What would I do if I didn't have you guys to vent all over?

I saw the Ellen thing on the news. I can't believe how blown out of proportion it all is.

Etsy is such fun. :)

I feel sorry for her. I think she's a kind-hearted person.

Etsy is SUCH a hoot. Did you see? That ninja shopper bought more things from me! I have to imagine she is either a shopaholic or she's doing all her holiday shopping.

From: [identity profile] golden-meliades.livejournal.com

I think it was very unwise of her. I think she was sincerely upset and I think her heart was in the right place over the puppy, but sobbing on TV so theatrically like that was a bad move, blowing the matter way out of reasonable proportion. The dog hasn't been *killed* or even hurt...and if she hadn't made such a fuss they might have come to an arrangement. Plus this will be bad for the agency thingie and possibly other agencies as sympathetic viewers boycott these normally very good resources for animals. AND she's never going to live it down, even if she later feels stupid for sobbing and begging on her show like she was trying to get a kidnapper to return a hostage instead of murdering him/her/them. I just feel she has done everyone, including herself, a disservice by reacting as she did.

Yeah I noticed that! I went and checked right away because I noticed that that lady bought a huge amount of pins and pendants and things in the past month. The things she's bought must total about 2000 dollars...do people really spend that much on xmas shopping? I really think that is the minimum of what all she's purchased could have cost, when you factor in all the shipping as well.

I'm going to guess vent over the cat?

Trust me, am there with the car thing. Thankfully I have a friend who gets me parts for cheap. He's handing labor off to another friend though, so now I'm worried that guy will overcharge the crap outta me.

/sigh. At least it's only a few hundred dollars as opposed to the thousands you're spending.

Oh, and if you're thinking about it, avoid a treadmill or any exercise machine. Unless you want a new clothing horse. You have to have a dedicated room to those things if you really want to make it work.

Congrats with Etsy though!

From: [identity profile] golden-meliades.livejournal.com

I bought an elliptical two or three years and used it so much that I wore it out and had to buy a treadmill two days ago, which I used this morning and loved. Honestly, it's all in the dedication...though it's true that for about 95% of people, exercise machines DON'T get used. But I really don't think it's due to a lack of a dedicated room, since I don't have one...and up here it is either indoor cardio machines or no exercise at all because exercising outside in the winter is next to impossible.

From: [identity profile] redmagus.livejournal.com

Then I bow in awe of your dedication m'lady. I saw my parents go through three of those things personally.

From: [identity profile] golden-meliades.livejournal.com

You mean they went through three *without using them*?? If so, it boggles the mind.

From: [identity profile] redmagus.livejournal.com

Well, they used them for a few weeks or so... but yea, pretty much.

Typical suburban family -_-'

From: [identity profile] golden-meliades.livejournal.com

But why did they have to buy a new one to replace one that was never worn out from use? I mean...you can't *lose* a treadmill, right? Or...did they buy one, not use it, then get rid of it, then a few years later try again?

I did have a weight machine as a teen that I never used...but now I have a Bowflex Extreme 2 that I use all the time. The difference was definitely in my intention to stick to it. The Bowflex is in my living room and is huge and ugly and I wish I could hide it...and the treadmill is out in front of the bathroom where I can fold the track up so it only occupies a small(ish) space.

From: [identity profile] redmagus.livejournal.com

bingo about the "getting rid of it" and getting a new one. cept the went from the treadmill to one of those "all in one" machines, and then back to the treadmill since it hid easier

From: [identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com

It's funny...I have a recumbent indoor bike & I have NO problem using it in the winter. I open the curtains wide & watch the snow fall & pedal away happily like a hamster on a wheel. I just can't bring myself to use it in good weather though...I don't know why. I guess I'd really rather be outside, unless it's freezing cold.

From: [identity profile] golden-meliades.livejournal.com

Oh I don't use either of my machines in the summer, either. But the first half of spring and the second half of autumn and all through winter, I haven't got much other choice. All of October has been too cold for biking and really rather miserable even for jogging. And the snow often isn't completely gone until May, so...

Hey, that's what we're here for, right? And I'm *positive* that you are right about the physical reactions to your loss of exercise. And now that you know this, having a back-up plan is a really good idea.

From: [identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com

Ahh...I hate dumping on you guys. It's just that SO much has gone wrong lately. I'm no fun at all.

I'm totally getting myself that membership to the new exercise club.

From: [identity profile] zannachan.livejournal.com

Fingers crossed that you get your car back soon. It's been gone much too long; this is getting ridiculous. (This also happened to a friend of mine recently--they kept her car for over a month trying to figure out what was wrong with it. In the end, though, they did figure it out and she got her car back, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your car as well).

Congratulations on getting off to such a great start at Etsy!

From: [identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com

Well,,,I have my car now so that's good. It still is leaking oil & it still isn't quite right. I think I'll drive it for another year or so & trade it in for one of those newer Outbacks I had my eye on.

Etsy is going so well...it's great to have a new venue for my stuff. I can sell little things there all day long.

From: [identity profile] indigos-angel.livejournal.com

I'm glad that you figured out a way to get out for your exercise again, and congratulations on the car.

One way or another, you'll get a car.

*intends*

Things are slowly working out. It's just taking a lot of time, money, organizational skills, & patience. Usually I do fine but it's been ganging up on me. *sigh* I'll be ok though.

*gallantly offers herself up to ventation*

If you didn't have us, one day we would hear a 10 second blip on the news about a mask maker going crazy and shooting up the neighborhood. That would lead into a story about gun control that would make me mad and I'd change the channel.

Congrats on your Etsy following!!

From: [identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com

lol...I'd be more likely to be swinging one of my Japanese swords than shooting a gun anyway. As far as I know, there's no anti-sword lobbying in Washington so I guess all is cool. ;-)

The Etsy thing is working out so well. I just bought a showcase...can't wait to see what that does to my sales/hits!

From: [identity profile] charismitaine.livejournal.com

*hugs* Car trouble is the very worst. I had a car die earlier this year, and depended on my roommates for transportation for a whole semester. I went four months without a hair cut. Sucks.

But I'm really excited about my order! The plan is for Christmas gifts, but I know I'll be really tempted to keep one for myself....

From: [identity profile] merimask.livejournal.com

The car trouble is a total pain in the butt. Seriously. Where I live, if you're without a car you're totally crippled. Not like in a big city like San Francisco or Toronto or NYC where you don't even need a car because there's so much convenient public transportation. *sigh* Frustrating.

Your stuff is on the way! I threw in a little extra thingy I thought you might like (everyone from LJ is getting something different), so you have a built-in extra gift for giving, or a little something of your own. :-)
